unfortunately, one (of many) lame fact about boston is this town shuts down way too early. fortunately, the north end has plenty of late-night (24hr?) restaurants and some kick ass 24 hr bakeries. leave the car at home.

Clubs close at 1 or 2am.
Most of restaurants close at midnight or earlier.

I know it freakin' sucks but once I got older, it's not that bad.... I guess that's one of the good(bad?) thing about being 25.

Chinatown closes around 3 AM.....

The Purple Shamrock is a great rib place

The Purple Shamrock isn't a rib joint, it's a f'ing night club. One of dozens in Faneuil Hall.

Boston in the spring and autumn is fantastic. While in Wellesley, one of my favorite restaurants is China Sky, right up the street from her. Great Chinese and Japanese, with a very good sushi bar. A little more upscale, and fun, is Fugakyu, on Beacon St Brookline.

Rt 30, Commonwealth Av, takes you to (eventually) Boston Common on the Tremont St. side. The Theatre District is over here. Prepare to have fun, eat, drink and get very lost.

Rt 16 (eventually) takes you to The People's Republic of Cambridge and Somerville. Harvard Square is one stop among others in the area. Prepare to have fun, eat, drink and get very lost.

Rt 9, Boylston St. not much happening, until it dumps you out in Kenmore Square. This is the beautiful crime-free Fenway. If the Sox are playing, DO NOT DRIVE. Check out a dozen clubs on Landsdowne St, next to the ball park. Jillian's is at the end of Landsdowne, and Boston Billiards is on Boylston. Prepare to have fun, eat, drink and get very lost.

There's way more than that too. Museums, concerts, the Aquarium et cetera.

Great advice. I second Fugakyu.

Since you're a tourist, I'm just gonna rapid fire bunch of names to check out. Google the name for further info. These are the quintessential Boston to-dos.

Restaurants:

Fugakyu (Japanese)
Shabu Zen (Best hotpot in town)
33 (Modern American)
The Vox (Modern American)
Koreana (Korean)
The Harvest (Modern American)
Chow Chau City (Chinese)

Bars/Clubs: (trendy, the cliche place-to-be places of Boston)

Avalon (in fenway park)
Liquor Store
Rumor
Aria (these 3 are all in theatre district)
Ned Devine (fanuil hall)

Bars/Clubs: (not as fancy but great word-of-mouth places)
Wonderbar (allston)
Tonic (allston)
Soho (allston)

A MUST stuff to do:
Ducktour (a tour amphibian WWII bus that goes on Charles river and all of Boston)
Walk by Boston Common & Public Garden (next to each other)
Copley shopping plaza
Get lost in downtown crossing & financial district
The wharf
Quincy Market & Fanuel Hall (so much to eat!)

Restaurants:
Chinese-
Grand Chau Chau (Chau Chau City is horrible)
or
Big Fish

Thai and sushi-
711 Restaurant (free jazz on tuesday and thursday)

American-
I think all the places are meh

Seafood-
the No Name (Good luck finding it though...it can be tough to get to)

bars:
Pour House (my fav)

I agree with the rest, but everyone who lives in Boston hates Duck tours.

It is. When I first went, it took me an hour just to find the dam place. I kept passing it until i realized that the place has sucj a small sign. It's very good though. They give you such big portions.

Why don't we have an ATOT meetup while he's here?

why don't we go to your place for the Pats game?

beer and chicken wings?

Sure I'd be down for an ATOT meet since I missed the one in Vancouver a few years back.

It would be fun I'm sure, start off with beers and finish off by roasting me with some of my dumb posts!
