I don't find their prices all that low for most things, and it's a shame there are no sales because there certainly is the margin for them. This isn't aldi's.

One additional fact-Trader Joe's is a privately held company. A bit surprising as it seems like any startup that is the least bit successful seems to have becoming publically traded as the cash bonanza for it's starters.

Where I live it comes out the tap sort of a weird gray color and has bubbles. If you make ice, the ice looks a solid color and you can't see thru it. Tap water here is probably worse for you than smoking.

I've tried every filter you can buy, Fiji tastes better to me. Last year I dropped about 4 bills on a top rated solid block carbon filter and I still prefer Fiji. The minerals in it must be what gives it the slight edge, if not that, it's something because I find it more pleasant to drink *shrug*

They sold out to Aldi's in the late 1970's. So they are part of a privately held company, but not independent.

There's Trader Joe's less than 2 miles from my house. Aldi is less than 1 mile from my house. Trader Joe's is owned by Aldi.

We go to Trader Joe's several times a week. My wife loves the store. Employees are super friendly and they stock items not commonly found everywhere for reasonable prices. We just bought bunch of 8.8 oz New Zealand manuka honey (umf 10+) for $11. That's something you don't see everyday.

That a different Aldi. There's two Aldis; Aldi Nord, and Aldi Süd. They're both owned by the same family, but are independent companies. Aldi Nord owns Trader Joe, and has a minimal(non-existent?) presence in the US. Aldi Süd has the US Aldi stores.

I love Trader Joe's! I buy organic produce, nuts (they don't gas them), and ground turkey from there. The rest of the stuff I get from Costco.

Trader Joe's has good regular prices, but anything carried in a normal store will be cheaper during the frequent sales normal stores have.

SoCal has a bunch of specialty markets, we shop "mostly" at Stater Bros, but get some items at half a dozen other places including Trader Joe's.
