Things that piss me off about rock music...

It seems as if everyone is so concerned with the "next big thing." Crappy indie bands are paid undue attention because some journalist, desperate to discover and expose new bands, says they're the best thing since the last best thing that lasted two months last year. Then everyone jumps on the bandwagon and soon we've got rubbish crammed down our throats for a few weeks before they're shite when the next big thing comes around.

Even more annoying are the die-hard music geeks that dismiss everything with the slightest commercial tint. Nothing is any good unless the band is unheard of, only if they've never made a video, or been featured in a magazine. Song in a commercial? They're crap.

Why are people so goddamned protective of music? It's farking entertainment, people. Lighten up.

Yeah unless it's an underground leaked demo tape you are not cool..

There are obvious spectrums because of the way corporations utilize pop music in commerce. It's all about revenue.

No side is proper because in reality music is subjective and other people's opinions shouldn't mean anything to you. Listen to what you like.

I don't care what others think of my musical tastes, but it annoys me when I put on a song, say... something by The Killers... and some ratbag moans that they suck, but last year they were awesome because no one had heard of them...

You obviously care if it bothers you when people say things like that. Just ignore them.

And only 5 people know who the band is and seen them in a crappy concert...

the thing that pisses me off about all music coming out is that, statistically, if you listen to any random song within the past year, it's likely to suck. So probability works against me finding a song I like.

I'll have to admit it bridgen...this is your first post where I agree with every damn word of it. Nothing bugs me more than how pathetic people cling to music/bands to define themselves and then run to some new music/ban when "too many other people like them" or "they sold their soul to commercialism" bull crap. Good god my blood pressure just rose.

Its true. These are difficult times in the music industry. All you can do is pop up your collar and try to weather the storm.

You know what pisses me off? The rock singer accent. Take for example the word "touch". A rock singer can never say that. They have to say "Tsuch". And the fake raspy voices, the swallowing of the words, I sometimes think it's a completely different language.

They're right. The killers suck.

Last year in the dorms there was this tool that lived across the hall from me... he wrote a big list of "Band/Artists that must be stopped" on his door. Thankfully someone came by and ripped half of it off.

Later he put up a whole bunch of these fvcking bands with obscure names that no one besides the most elistist indie prick would know, like anyone would really care what the fvck he listened to. God I hated that kid.

It was an example, but you like Hudson Hawk, so your opinion means fvck all.

I agree with you in the sense that if someone says a band like Soundgarden sucks because they are/were semi-popular, it is very annoying. There is some music though, such as Puddle of Mudd/POD/whatever nu-metal garbage is next, which does indeed suck. I have no problem pointing this out to people if they continue to rave about how 'good' and 'deep' their lyrics are:

Everything's so blurry
and everyone's so fake
and everybody's empty
and everything is so messed up

Wow that was inisghtful. Amazing even. Not.

I think the biggest problem with rock though, is not the elitists, it is the pansy ass white-boy-whining rock bands with no ability to play their instruments. The funniest thing is when they try to assail pop bands for being fake and producing crappy music.

You know what b!tch? At least they look nice.
