Assault is very nice for maps like sharqi/mashturr city/karkand. If you're any good with the grenade launcher you can rack up kills like no other.

touching vehicles shouldnt mean death

more distinguishable skins on low settings

enemy name/colours come up quicker

anything to make the way you get vehicles less retarded

balance vehicles and foot combat so everybody doesnt automatically rush/healthstrip for the most powerful vehicle, inevitably resulting in some 13 year old n00b wasting it over and over again

netcode that doesnt suck

a pubisher completely different from EA

no gamespy shiat

All Seeing Eye and other browsers supported

unlockable porn content, resulting in less kiddies (one way or the other)

also keep in mind that true to the laws of physics, the farther away the target, the higher you have to aim to compensate for gravity on the bullet. so a "head shot" from 300 yards is probably putting a bullet into the enemy's kneecap.

well i thought that's what the adjustment in the scopes are for. anyway the sniper is too weak, even with the unlocked rifle, and firing rate is too slow to be useful. Maybe make it more like Ghost Recon but a bit weaker to keep games from becoming sniper fest. The anti-tank kit is a bit weak. Instead of making it stronger or fire faster, it'll be good enough if they make it auto-seeking instead of having to guide it visually which will expose myself easily. Finally the special-ops should get silencers.

I know this isnt a popular request since most play online, but I would like the ability to add bots to the standalone servers. I know you can "join" singleplayer games, but I would like to set up a lan server to fill/remove bots as needed up to 64player maps.

If i remember correctly the sniper doesnt have a damage indicator.

That could be it, but I've had this happen many times(was playing sniper all day yesterday), and have had people standing still, blah blah perfect shot lined up, nothing happens, then see them get killed a few seconds later and get a kill damage assist for it so I know I'm hitting them.

Yeah, I've never noticed it.

Sniper DOES have the damage indicator, it's just that typically you will unzoom automatically.

When you shoot the sniper rifle, hit the fire button and HOLD IT DOWN. You will stay zoomed, and if you hit your target it will show you a hit indication (if you hit something)

Just that much will help your sniping immensely. Because now you can know when you hit and when you don't, which will give you some feedback on how you are setting up your shots.

AS I recall BFV had some fall speed to the bullets, so that the you would have to aim slightly above your target at different distances. It's possible that I am misremembering and that BFV only had a reduction in power over certain distances. It did at teh very least have that. Where depending on the gun you were firing, it woul dhave some fixed distance at max power, then start dropping off in power above that distance. Snipers had the longest fixed distance, and the lowest rate of power dropping though. I assume that BF2 at least has that feature.

I will have to look for the damage indicator when I am the sniper...where does it show up in the scope if you leave it up after firing ? If you had a screen shot that would be cool

I tested out the bullet drop theory in BF2 last night...I was on a map that I can't remeber the name of at this moment in time...but it is the one where it is an island and the USMC has to boat or fly onto the island.

Anyways I was sitting on one of the remote islands and shooting at a guy who was roughly 309 meters away based on the indicator (he was standing at the missle lancher)

Anyways I had the 50 cal and I didn't really have to adjust the hieght of the cross hairs above his head to get a kill. So my logic would lead me to believe that if the shot is under 250 to 300 meters then you shouldn't have to adjust manually with the cross hairs...correct me if I am wrong

I don't know how you would even be able to hit anything past 350 to 400 meters...maybe it is how i have my settings on the game...as far as the distance/draw...but at over 300 meters people look like little ants running around...

Does anyone else know how the team killing getting booted from the server process works ?....

Last night I was playing and some jack ass turd kept on killing me so he would get the chopper...killed me like three times....

On top of that another guy shot me through the glass with the 50 cal to get the chopper from me.

So I got pissed and went and shot this guy back after I respawned...I got instantly booted from the server...

So I was curious how both of these guys didn't get booted for killing me multiple times, but I get booted after one TK.

people are also getting pretty creative with the tk'ing...last night this guy was driving around in a dune buggy...and racing around and killing team members by jumping out of it right before it hit someone...so he wouldn't get charged with a TK...

was actually kind of funny to watch him mow down like 10 people at once...have them respawn to vehicles like attack choppers and tanks and mow him down while he tried to run away in the dune buggy... only to do it all over again

With regard to the sniper rifles, the M24 does about twice the damage as the SVD and Type 88 per shot; so, it makes a difference which weapon you are using.

Also, keep in mind that different classes of infantry wear differing amount of armor. The Anti-Tank guy is pretty heavily covered, for example.

With regard to taking on tanks with the Anti-tank kit, keep in mind that ideally this is suppose to be a long-range weapon. Otherwise, you'll have to depend on having cover and being able to hit and run. When none of this possible, well it is a team play game. Hopefully, your one shot will soften them up for the next shot from someone else.

I don't know if this has been carried over from the original game, but beside the different amount of armour, depending on where the tank was hit, the game also adjusted the damage according to the angle at which the shot hit the surface of the tank. I'm pretty sure that the Desert Combat mod did away with the differences about where the shot hit (front, side, back), but it still made a difference whether you hit the tank straight on or at some angle. At least this was true with Tank vs Tank combat, and it may still be a factor in this game, even with the shoulder fired weapon. I haven't played enough to see if this is true, but I'm thinking that it might be.

I get so irritated...that I can see someone laying prone...have the time to line up the shot perfect for the head and and hit them....only to have them turn around from 200 meters and either kill me with spray and pray...or some gay 203 round. The fact that it takes up to 3 or more shots kinda defeats the purpose of the sniper...you shoot someone a couple of times they know right where your hiding and either come and get you or kill you from 150 to 250 meters away with iron sites...the whole time that you are shooting them with a .50 caliber sniper rifle in the chest.

Leeland

Fair enough..... But do we really want MORE snipers in our games? I sure as hell dont. I like it when most people are running about with machine guns. Making sniping harder is a good idea in my opinion, less realistic they dont die in 1 shot but cmon, who plays games for realism? Defeats the point.

Good point...and yes it would be pretty gay if every shot was one kill....

Things that I never took into account that this thread has enlighted me to...

1. different levels of armour
2. amount of damage per weapon is different...in regards to the sniper rifles
3. bullet drop and lead time

Taking all this into account I think the sniper class is set up very well...I think that people need to understand that you really do need to take your time and line up your shots for a very small target (the head) if you want to get a 1 shot kill.

That is what makes it such a hard class to play...but also very rewarding...but I think that once you understand all the logistics involved with the sniper class and know how to use them to your advantage you are the most deadly guy on the map.

Thanks for all the insight and helping me understand the role a little better...it helped put the issues in a different light and explain why things are they way they are...makes sense to me at least...

Still not sure about the damage indicator though...and if that actual exists when you shoot someone and leave the scope up..

Does it actually show some sort of indication that you hit the target or no ?

Thanks
