To be fair, neither does that "sentence".

agreed, how is this?

Oh really, explain why there was a trade blockade Naboo? Why they wanted her to sign a treaty to make it official and How this advanced the agenda of Darth Sidious? And then after attempting to force Natalie Portman to sign the treaty Darth Sidious says it is good they are not going to sign it? WTF? It makes no sense. Also if Natalie Portman did sign the treaty how would that have helped Darth Sidious?

/not a pun

While it's off topic for this thread, I'll have to completely disagree with that. Unless you are talking about some of the terrible movie adaptations of his work, which are hardly King's fault.

Oh no, I am indeed saying that he's a terrible writer.

But there have been terrible movies made of his books, but some have been great, too. I've noticed that in the worst ones, he tends to get some type of "producer" credit. Sometimes that means nothing....but it strikes that when he does have some type of influence, it always turns out to be crap.

King is a great idea guy.

there are hundreds and hundreds of SW novels that have nothing to do with the Vader/Skywalker/Solo story - I would love to see the movies draw from them and go in a different direction.

why bother incorporating them? a whole new franchise can spawn.

I am sure they will spawn off from the universe but whether we see that with Episodes 7-9 is questionable. I know people are talking they should use the original character and do it ala Avatar but that sounds like a bad idea to me.

The new Jedi Order novels were a great story arc. I doubt they are going to use the plot from existing novels though.

It isn't even remotely continuous with the movies, but the story of Revan is actually pretty decent and detailed. I doubt any movie without Skywalkers and Vaders in it would get much play though.

I disagree (sort of) I think before a certain point in his career he was actually a very good writer. The Stand, The Shining and the first 3 books of the Gunslinger series are very good (even excellent in some parts) as far as novels go.

However as his career progressed his ideas became better than his writing overall, or the quality of his writing has slipped in comparison.

That's the story I would love to see.

What about Nolan or Peter Jackson directing? The only down side to Nolan is everyone would be dark and brooding, but for NJO, that would be perfect.

Whedon, I liked Avengers, but I think he is a good fit for this franchise. I would pass on him, he would be too interested in bringing out the human element, and we would end up with another young Anakin.
