Things getting heated with India / Pakistan

Not good.

The Indian Air Force carried out strikes on a terrorist camp across the Line of Control (LoC), according to reports. The strike was carried out around 3:30 this morning, news agency ANI said, quoting sources. The aircraft dropped 1,000 kg laser-guided bombs on a major terror camp across the Line of Control (LoC), completely destroying it, news agency ANI reported, quoting Air Force sources.
India's operation comes two week after the terror attack in Pulwama in which over 40 soldiers of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were killed when a suicide bomber of the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed exploded a car full of bombs next to a security convoy.
The Jaish-e-Mohammed had claimed responsibility for the February 14 attack and had also posted videos of the bomber, who had joined the terror group a year ago.
On September 29, 2016, the army had carried out surgical strikes on seven terrorist launch pads across the Line of Control (LoC) in retaliation to an attack on its base in Jammu and Kashmir's Uri earlier that month.

The Kashmir Valley, a disputed territory that has led to war between India and Pakistan in the past, is once again bringing the two archrivals to the brink.
In the past few days, hundreds of Kashmiris have been arrested, accused of fueling the insurgency against Indian rule. India has moved thousands of new troops into the valley, where they have taken up positions in towns, along the highways and in snow-dusted apple orchards.
Families are fleeing border areas. Fuel and food supplies are running out. Pakistan and India are firing artillery shells. An Indian government directive ordered doctors to “gear up their Rapid Response Teams” for “any untoward eventuality.” In Pakistan, the military has shifted to high alert.
This could end up getting serious and you never want serious with two nuclear powers in direct open conflict.

It's too bad that we don't have a calm, cool, level-headed intelligent President in the White House who could help in tamping down hostilities between two nuclear powers that are ready to blow shit up. Nope. Instead we have an orange colored racist lunatic who couldn't find his ass with the assistance of an aide who has been designated to tell him where his ass is.

It we're lucky the Urine-splattered Incest Yam will sleep through this.

India does seem to be experiencing the same upsurge of populism as everywhere else, from Brazil to Israel. The advent of Modi surely represents the same shift from traditional elites to nationalist populists as has happened in many other places?

Dunno about Pakistan - that place has always seemed to be massively politically dysfunctional.

Only took to post #3 for it to spin off topic to a trump thread. He lives in your head, you are obsessed.

IIRC Even Obama said the only thing that keeps him up at night is Pakistan.

Isn't a lot of the division though ultimately boil down to differences in religion?

Pakistan harboring terrorists isn't a surprise. There needs to be an international coalition putting them in their place. Sweep their entire country, round up the terrorists using that shit country as their home, place heavy, heavy sanctions on that country. They sheltered Bin-Laden for who knows how long.

Only in a conservative world does mentioning that we need a real leader in America when two nuclear powered are threatening war mean that we;ve veered off topic. Luckily, we don't live in a conservative world.

Whine some more.

Pakistan has been training terrorists for the past 50 years. All our 9/11 terrorists were trained there.

Would be nice if someone had the balls to clean it up.

They has nukes... gets more difficult to do anything - at least by force.

I do think we should at least start with sanctions.

Are you wanting the US to police the world? Why would other countries not step up?

You really want the US to go into another country and possibly another war? If not the US, then what country and or countries?

Why don't we act smart like Putin did and get other countries to do their bidding.

I'm sure India would be up the task. Maybe even Iran.

Who said anything about policing? Getting the two sides to work it out diplomatically would be a good option, no?

Well, its implied because of the definition of the word. So yeah. Getting to sides to work diplomatically to keep order is by definition policing.

Having the US stick its hands in foreign affairs is likely not going to be of much use right now. Why not have other countries that are in the area step up and try to do something? Or do you want the threat of force that the US has to use against them?

What the fuck are you talking about? Policing refers to enforcement. Being a neutral arbiter has absolutely nothing to do with policing.

Yeah...Gone in the US are the days of having a real leader who would show real leadership, brinkmanship, a knack for bringing people together, open to negotiations where BOTH sides come out a winner. Someone with , nuance or depth. Someone other world leaders respect. Someone with a mind that is not a simple bot-like algorithm of petty prejudices and knee-jerk nastiness.

Instead..We have a so called "leader" with no class, no charm, no coolness, no credibility, no compassion, no wit, no warmth, no wisdom, no subtlety, no sensitivity, no self-awareness, no humility, no honor and no grace. We aren't even in the conversation when it come to leardership when dealing with the world's problems.

Well then congrats, we are already at that stage.
How comforting. We have the Trump Admin negotiating with what in mind for an end goal? Which country will let them build the biggest Trump hotel in Kashmir? The other one gets nuked as long as they make sure the fallout doesn't wreck Kashmir too badly? Or just a bunch of regular killing like Syria/Iraq/Yemen. Reminiscent of the Dubya/Cheney days and who is surprised? Not me. I thought America had learned that lesson for good in 2008. Nope, all forgotten 2 years later when the demon socialist started trying to fix our healthcare problem. Meanwhile the Kenyan Muslim Gun-Grabbin' Communist Socialist Fascist Worst President in the history of the world negotiated with Iran using nothing but sanctions (and his forked tongue).

So then you agree with me?

Well, I don't 100% disagree - there are limits to what can be expected of the US (especially when it's so dsyfunctional itself). But the US is already heavily involved with Pakistan and has been for many decades. Providing huge military assistance for starters (though it seems that has very recently been reduced) and also engaging in military operations in the country and working with its intelligence services. So its a bit disengenous to now suggest that the region is nothing to do with you.

With great power (and endless meddling) comes great responsibility!
