Why didn't the N5 get Nougat when it has the same RAM (2GB) as the N5X? Snapdragon 808 isn't that much faster than the 800, it has 2 more cores but they are clocked lower than the other 4.

A) 800 and 801 do not have drivers for Vulcan and OpenGL ES 3.1

B) 800 and 801 but not 805 does not have dedicated hardware encryption. All the 64 bit chips do. Now the 805 is not a 64bit chip but Qualcomm did some dedicated silicon to address this feature.

To be a legitimate Google Play device done by the OEM (instead of flashing the Google Play store yourself) you must meet the criteria for something called Google CTS. CTS stands for Compatibility Testing Suite, well there are different versions of the CTS with different versions of android.

This has pissed off a lot of people, especially for some sony phones sony was doing an official beta for Android 7, but those phones will not get the official version due to Google CTS. We do not know if A or B is the reason why these devices would fail CTS, or both, or some other reason since non disclosure agreements are involved with the company talks between the OEMs and Google.

Now some people are blaming qualcomm for A for qualcomm could do drivers for these older hardware but it makes little sense from qualcomm perspective.

Does it warn you when you start the app the knock knock will use more data? Does it turn itself off when you are on cellular data or roaming? Is it disabled by default? If any of these answers is no, then it's without your consent, most users will not go past installing it and using it (the thing is advertised for simplicity, so...)

Most people aren't savvy enough with technology. There are a lot of people who can't afford more than a 500mb or 1gb data plan, and there's a lot of people who travel and roam on limited data buckets.
You're making a video call anyway. If you're that worried about data it might be better to just make a voice call. I doubt that many people will be worried about the couple of seconds before they start chatting for a few minutes.

This isn't about you, it's about the person on the receiving end.

Don't get me wrong it's a nice feature, but it's one of those things that should not be on by default.

And you're just demonstrating your ignorance. Yes, it tells you about Knock Knock, yes you can turn it right off.

If the person on the receiving end is so scared of using data, they probably wouldn't accept a video call in the first place, and they can also turn the feature off.

You're literally trying to create a controversy over nothing.
