Thin 120mm case fans?

perdomot

Just bought an Antec Mini P180 case that has mounts for 120mm fans in front but the hdd cages are too close and I need a thinner fan. Anyone know of a thin fan that will fit? Thanks.

Thanks, that might be just what I need. I love this case but I can't believe the builders messed up the hdd cooling like they did.

Yikes. I didn't think it was possible that they would do that, but...

"However, you will need to remove the HDD cage (as a result of sacrificing two or
three HDD bays depending on which cage to be removed) should you choose to
use the fan mount in it. In order to build a quieter system we recommend NOT
installing the optional fans."

Yeah that's pretty messed up. I actually went and checked the manual as well, because I was sure that perdomot was doing something wrong 😛

The large P182 is like that as well.

Not true. I installed an optional 120x25mm fan in front of the "top" (middle) HDD cage. I had to remove the cage to get the fan in, but I was able to put it back as usual after.

Edit: unless having the fan there somehow causing a clearance issue with HDDs installed in the cage, but that doesn't seem like it would be the case to me, since the fan bracket was there all along anyway.

Well yes, the cage is still there, but I'm not sure the bay is usable any more for HDDs. The cables would get in the way I'd imagine. But then again, I never did use the middle bay for hard drives. The bottom bay was more than enough for my three HDDs.
