Thieves Snatching Purses at Gas Pumps

My state does not allow outright defense due to property, IE you can't say "I shot him because he was stealing my purse"

You CAN, however, say "Anyone bold enough to enter my private vehicle is enough to cause me to fear for my life". If it's a woman she would likely not be charged. I doubt that any jury in my state would convict. It would depend a lot on the circumstances.

I know for me, personally, to go into my vehicle you would have to 'get through me' IE cause me to fear for my life.

This goes back to the dead people dont tell stories..

I'm gonna call stupid that anybody doesn't. Aside from it being reflex to lock my doors when I get out like someone else said, the door should be locked any time you're not in direct control of the vehicle.

So when you step outside of your car 2 feet (cuz y'know, everyone pays at the pump), you roll up the windows, lock the doors and grab your keys?

I know of NO ONE that does this.

you must live in Baltimore or East New York. Anyone who actually WALKS AWAY from the vehicle should lock the door, but typically if you're just standing there pumping gas, who's going to come up and try to open your door? Sure, NOW you can argue that, but before... PARANOIA or personal experience.

I'm gonna call BS that you guys lock your doors when you pump gas.

I do, but I go inside to pay and get my snacks or whatever and there's usually a long ass line inside. People hear my stereo when I pull in so I just assume if they don't hear my alarm they might try to steal it.

At home, and in this area, I never lock the doors. If I'm somewhere like Buffalo, NY, I lock the car doors at the gas station.

You go inside to pay nowadays?

The last time I did this I had to go inside and pay before they'd even turn the pump on.

I'm standing at my car the whole time, so I don't lock my doors or roll the windows up. No chance anyone is going to be able to sneak up and reach in my window.

Yeah I only pay cash, I don't believe in credit cards, and only use my debit card in situations I have absolutely no choice. Though even if I used credit I'd still pay inside because that's where all the snacks are.

That's what these thieves are counting on. You feel safe, and they get to grab your stuff and run.

I automatically take out the keys whenever my car is off, and then I just hit the lock button on the remote when I'm out of the vehicle and the doors are closed. My windows are always rolled up if I'm in park and not in the vehicle. It's just automatic routine for me, I don't have to think about it. That way I never accidentally leave my cars in the vehicle and never leave the doors unlocked.

It's not like it take an extra minute or anything, nor is it a big hassle to lock or unlock. Now if you had to manually do everything, yeah, it would be annoying, but it's all power windows/locks these days.

Well, nice.

I never had anything stolen from me when I was at a gas station. However, I will be sure to lock my doors at all times when I am there now.

My friend was assaulted in Ohio at a gas pump about 2 weeks ago. The kids came up from behind put a gun to the back of his neck and pulled the trigger. The bullet shattered his jaw bone. When he was on the ground they got on top of him demanding money, car keys, etc. He's pretty strong and he basically got out of it, picked up one of the dudes, threw him and ran in the gas station.

The assailants were dropped off @ the gas station moments before by a state trooper who picked them up on the side of the road. They previously murdered 2 other people before that.

My friend was the last victim of their spree. They were found sleeping in his SUV on the side of the road with the car running.

He just got transported to a local hospital or his house, not sure. He will make a full recovery though!

Yep, but only so long as they are black and the shooter is white...

Nah, the black guy would have to sucker punch the lady, mount her, beat her while she is yelling for help AND THEN when she shoots him in self defense, she automatically become racist while at the very exact moment the black guy becomes a saint. It's pretty weird, but from previous events, I believe that is how it works.

ftfy.

For me if need a credit card to pay for it, I shouldn't be buying it in the 1st place. I find an item I want, I pay cash, and that's the end of the transaction. Simple, just the way I like it.

I buy everything with a credit card. I don't "need" to, but it's more convenient than cash, and they pay me to use it. Then I just pay one bill at the end of the month, electronically.

How do you pay utilities or make online purchases with cash?

LOL

Ghetto Fab baby, Ghetto Fab.

Turn that shit up wayyyyyyy loud, so they can hear what a pathetic loser you are a block away.
