The original wasn't exactly a critical masterpiece, yet it's a mainstay on weekend cable TV for bored housewives. I think that it will do OK no matter with the critics say.

I am still finding it surprising when I see a movie, thinking it is a remake, finding the original from say the 1960's or 1970's, and then learning that one was a remake from the 1930's or 1940's.

It's because she's never said or done anything so stupid that it made you pay enough attention to her to hate her. She'd be a natural in politics.

Looked at within the very narrow scope in which it was made, the original Overboard was a great comedy. Every actor (especially the two leads and the kids) did their roles perfectly.

OTOH I could only make it half way through this trailer. It is distinctly unfunny.
