They're here, they're queer, more getting used to it

The decades-long march of progress on reducing ignorance about gays continues, as the Exodus Church fighting to 'cure' gays has apolgized to gays and is closing.

Their leader is married to a woman, is attracted to men, and has 'come out' saying that he now realizes the approach to try to remove homosexual feelings is wrong.

Unsurprisingly, some leaders under him don't agree and are making a new church.

Trolling isn't any fun at all when you fellows don't respond properly.
Or perhaps I'm just not very good at trolling?

Your post was controversial, but not incorrect. "Defect" has a negative connotation when it should only be read as descriptive.

It's not a bug, it's a feature!

No, but seriously, its a feature. Like eye color or blood type. Good riddance, Exo-Squad.

I just don't get the "why" aspect of all this. Why the huge push for LGBT "progress."

I agree it is a defect in the DNA.

I think someone should at least be working on a cure. Yes YOU don't have to use it. But I think it should be an option for some. There certainly must be some people out there who would actually choose to willfully stop being gay. If you don't want to use it don't use it. No need to get all pissed off and angry just because someone would want to work on that or some others may actually want to change.

It's not a choice, it's a birth defect.

I kinda agree in a way, that possibily all of life is a birth defect. Everyone has some sort of defect.
There is no perfect human. Is skin color a defect? Some are born white, some black, and colors in between. So which is the correct color?

Or consider size? Some people are tall, some short. Which is the defect?
Some people are calm and easy going as marshallow cream, other not so much.
Some have a tempor easily set off by the least little thing.
Some are shy, others very outgoing.
Some love sex, other could care less.
Some eat into obesity, others almost have to be reminded to eat at all.

Why would we think blue eyes are the normal? Or brown?

Take sexual attraction, anything different from yours would be considered a defect?
Maybe homosexuality is the normal. Maybe heterosexuality is the defect.
Maybe life was not meant to go on and on and on.
Or maybe it is those defective that have the ability to breed and reproduce?

In the end, every single person is defective in some way.
If that we're not so, we'd all look like carbon copies.
Same eyes, same size, same skin, same hair.

If you are standing next to someone, and both of you are different in looks and personality, then one of you are defective.
Are you the defect? Or that other person standing next to you?
I wonder how that other person would feel about the question?
Isn't it a defect in itself to hold an unfounded grudge or hate against another group, class, individual, sex simply because they are different from you?
Just maybe it is that you are the defect. And you just gave yourself away.
And now we all know... :D

As someone who leans strongly libertarian, I'm totally in favor of gay rights.

A birth defect?? Then that's amusing because homosexual behavior is common in nature across a dozen different species, contrary to what the Baptist and other churches preach. And that's not even delving into other species that change their own gender, or exist as both genders simultaneously.

Suicide, depression and worse is heavy amongst people that feel like society offers them no value.

When even positive-outlooking teens that have devoted their spare time to counseling and helping other LGBT kids work through the harassment and hate and other issues ends up abruptly committing suicide over the very same reasons, you know there's a problem. I wish I could remember his name, happened within the last 1-2 years and he'd been featured on NBC News twice for the work he'd been doing.

This does not make sense. There is no defect when it comes to skin color or eye color. These are traits passed on from your family and are supposed to vary. Sexual orientation is not a variable. All living things are made to be able to survive and reproduce, it's not optional, or the species will no longer exist. So if you are gay, well, you are doing it wrong.
