You know, I think the president is much more intelligent than his language would have you believe.

Remember how before invading Iraq he got the majority of Americans to believe that Iraq was somehow responsible for 9/11? It's true that he never said it, but we filled in the blanks of poorly stated speechs to get that message.

Using poor language to convince people of something that you didn't say: it's not easy to do.

Spinsanity article on Bush's ambiguous statements

edit to clarify my point

Certainly more intelligent than anyone from this forum.

And that's not saying much for him either!

It's hard to take you and your ilk seriously when you approve of a PRESIDENT who can hardly speak HIS OWN language. You commend a stooge, a puppet, a moron. Way to go you patriot you.

i understand him perfectly. its not that hard, he just likes to talk like a "good 'ol boy" of which i dont have a problem. it must be the eliteism coming out in the libs that think that the man that holds the highest office in the land should have to act and speak like a rich socialite snob instead of just being the man that he is.

I doubt that. More experienced and educated yes but not more intelligent.

Obviously he suffers from brain farts when he speaks publicly.

Not at all - I think at least an 8th grade level of grammar and comprehension would suffice. His propensity to invent words on the spot doesn't help. Or his circular rambling. Or his inability to remember questions that were asked meer minutes before his response. Forgive me for being embarrased over foreign diplomats speaking better English than our Commander-in-Chief. I must be some rich socialite snob who hates America.

Funniest thing I've read all day. Thanks Crimson! You've perfectly illustrated for me how little you cons know about your posterboy.

Because YOU say he's stupid that makes him so? Have you ever spoken with Bush personally?

Typical. Crybaby rep.

Again, nobody here is addressing what was SAID.. only HOW it was said.. Thats not a way to win an election.

And what is wrong with talking about HOW it was said?

Looking at a much wider picture, I agree. How things are said can change the whole tone of a discussion, for example, sarcasm.

Yeah, and attended Andover Academy and then Yale where he had a less than spectacular school career. Essentially, but for his connections, he would NEVER have gotten in to either school. At best, he's a man of average intelligence.

I don't think anyone would say that Pres. Bush is an eloquent speaker. Living next to Texas though, I have no trouble understanding what he says.

I also have no problem understanding why democrats quibble over the way he speaks. They don't have much else to quibble about so this is what they pick on. That only serves to makes the dems look weak in my eyes.

I'd like to see any one of you Bush bashers to get up there and do this job.

You wouldn't know whether to scratch your watch or wind your butt.

Yeah -- thankfully Bush has Cheney and the other handlers for this. It could be rough..

Unless.... unless......

Wait -- do the conditions of this thought experiment account for Cheney & Co. being available still?

You make it sound like being a puppet is a tough job. For what's it's worth, you couldn't pay me enough to hold that position.

Republicans don't want to admit the embarrassing truth that the entire American public knows is true. Bush is really just AVERAGE. He's got average intelligence, without his connections he never would have gotten into the schools he was able to go to. It's not just his speech that we are critiquing, it's his overall manerrisms. Watch him when he tries to make up things on the spot, you can definitely tell that this man is not very educated. This is the President of the United States, the ultimate embassador of our great country and you think its acceptable that he can't speak higher than an 8th grade level? I think we all know that Bush is nothing more than a figure-head/puppet, if you take away his advisors and administration he would not know what the hell to do. I think we all know this, but of course the Rep. would never admit it. Face it, he has no business being President with his limited mental capacity.
