What is the deal with this? Are they getting desperate? I went to the dealer and they told me they they are no longer making the 08's and are only getting 09's. I am tyring to get a good deal on a new 08 corolla, but since there are no more 08's, that is a no go. I thought the dealership was bullshitting me, but I went to another dealer and they told me the same. Isn't it a little to early to bring out the 09?

What the fvck, it's barely into 2008. This is like magazines who will send the damn november issue in september. I can't wait for a manufacturer to just basically skip a year so that, for example, on Dec 31/08 you could buy a '10

Ya, check the major metropolitan area nearest you. You'll find PLENTY of '08s!!!

The target dates are still mid prior-year (you'll not see the dates move earlier & earlier). Example: The '09 Toyota Venza won't be available until LATE '08 making it even later than the typical August/September releases.

This is something that happens w/ larger changes (generational makeovers, etc.) and is not hardly isolated to the '09 Toyota Corolla.

P.S. If you want a killer deal on a car go shopping for a new Elantra.

I hope they stop making the Corolla altogether but thats wishful thinking.

why?

i guess he's against low-cost, reliable, practical, and comfortable cars.

Not really, he just knows you'd be better off buying a craptastic Yank car.

Detroit fo lyfe, yo ;)

I'm sure they've stopped making them as the '09s are all new, and they don't want to cannibalize its sales. It's a bit surprising you can't find '08s though...have you tried something like carsdirect.com? They show a $1K rebate, so along with the lower list price they '08s are quite a bit cheaper.

Plenty of '08s corollas at my local dealership, should be a huge issue until another 2 months or so when the 2009 start showing up. But even then, you would be able to get a GREAT deal on an '08.

My gf wants to steal an Auto LE for the low 14's (possibly high 13's). Its pretty aggressive, but she is also gonna use the $450 college rebate, so i guess it is possible, but it will be very tough. I did the internet quoting and the lowest was 15k. I guess I can try to talk more as well add the rebate once we agree to price terms.

Maybe this is some kind of tricky move since the economy is in the shitter to avoid giving all the 08s away? I know around here the dealership acts like they just don't have any cars to sell you so you'd better hurry and buy one at sticker price if you want one!

toyota probably aimed for 08 with the new corolla and missed. so now they're making an early 09. if there aren't any 08s left then there aren't any 08s left.

and corollas are really stripped for those low prices. like no equipment at all.

Lots of 08's left in the Bay Area. They are selling CE models for less than $12,000 new. Hard to beat that for basic transportation.

Any car released during a given calender year can be called the next year's model, even if it is released in January. It makes no sense, but whatever.

You could always buy the Subaru version of the Corolla...they call it an Imprezza but it looks just like a Corolla IMO.

Yes, it's retarded that they are prematurely releasing the '09 models. Corolla typically gets redesigned every 5 years and was due for a new model in '08, but the 10th gen got delayed because Toyota wanted to tighten up its quality control processes, and plus the newly released Civic likely sent them back to the drawing board (though Toyota hasn't officially admitted that).

I'd want the '08 too, to avoid first year issues in the new 10th generation Corollas.
I'm still waiting to see the new Corolla in the flesh. No doubt they are in town by now, I just haven't laid eyes on one.

the 08 was still 9th gen corolla... (unless your not talking about US spec) and has been out since 05 - I'm not sure what exactly you're waiting on.........

The 09 does look better in and out....but it still feels like the same boring car. I do not think its worth missing out on thousands on savings.

They had that last year here in Boston. My gf wants a new car and she saw all the presidents day sales and she went nuts. Sucks, because when we got the dealers, they all said they had no 08s left and they wanted to sell the only one they had for 16.5K and no more talking. What scumbags! I did an online quote thing from edmunds and the dealers that said that they would have none left said that they had some left and wanted to sell them for 15K. I am going to see if I can talk down the internet price down more.
