I don't get it, why do they say seinfeld is about nothing? How is seinfeld any different than friends? Seemed like friends is about nothing as well...

The difference is Seinfeld admits to being about nothing, while other shows try to hide it.

Because Friends usually has consistent season-long plot lines that carry from one show to another, while Seinfield's plot that carried on for a while (that I know of [not the biggest fan of the show]) was George's Fiancee... maybe even his job situation.

Yeah, but even that stuff really was sort of a background train of thought in the shows. While it was part of the show, you didn't have to know anything about the previous episodes to get the jokes.

I find Seinfeld to be one of the few sitcoms that's actually about something.
