Get a PS2 or Xbox. Buy platformers.

In the end that might be cheaper. Are there good role players for four people on those platforms?

Gauntlet Legends, Baulders Gate Dark Alliance, few others not sure of thme tho,
BG: Dark Alliance supports 2 players (avaliable for PS2, Xbox, and GC) and is a GREAT game; exactly like Diablo. D&D Heros was just released for Xbox (Xbox only) and is 4-player --- very similar to BG: DA or Diablo.

This may seem like a dumb idea but....since they like Diablo II, have you completed it on Nightmare and Hell difficulty? I know it's the same stuff over but it gets a LOT harder(especially Hell difficulty). If they like level building and finding cool items, you might still get some use out of Diablo II. I also think that they would like Dungeon Siege. It's a beautiful game......it does get a bit monotonous at times but overall it's very cool. Also, if they like co-op play, you might try something like Serious Sam. I know it's a shooter type game but you can play co-op and it's a lot of fun. You play at your own pace. It's also cheap. You can get both games at walmart in a pack for 14.99. :) Good luck! There are tons of games out there and the only problem is finding what you're looking for.

Aye!

Sorry to reincarnate this thread but i have updates..

For some reason or another, they have taken to MechWarrior 4! But I think that will wear out as in the end its still a shooter game with no RP or story to keep their simple brains occupied.

Are the expansion packs for mechwarrior 4 any better at multiplayer?

I believe what they like is Multiplayer Cooperative, a la Diablo. Basically, they don't want to fight eachother, they want to play a single-player-type RP 'together', which is why Diablo is so great. I will give Dungeon Seige a shot.

What other Diablo clones are there out there? I saw that japanese samurai game.. is that any good?

Like others have said get Dungeon Seige. This game is very similar to Diablo and very easy to pick up. Just point and click and you're all set. You don't even have to worry about experience points because if you want a character to excel in a certain statistic you just keep using the same type of attack throughout the game (for example: if you want your character to be strong as an ox keep using your sword and nothing else, if you want your character to be a super wizard then only cast spells throughout the game, etc, etc, etc...).

I think Icewind Dale 1 or 2 would be a good one... more hack and slash oriented than Baldurs Gate(which is very story driven and extremely non-linear), 6 characters in a party, and the Infinity engine is very easy to use. You of course have your standard fare of leveling up, classes, magic items, etc.

There's an Icewind dale bundle which I believe includes IWD1, IWD2 and the Heart of Winter expansion pack(forget if thats for 1 or 2), for like 29 bucks or so.

If they like Dungeons and Dragons then NeverWinter is the way to go. It is quite simple to use (after you get past the initial character creation).

I'm surprized no one mentioned the standard games for people who don't like shootemups, or complex games: anything in the Sim family. Sim City and The Sims are great games. Or you can raid the $5 bin and pick up some old Sierra games - women love those.

Edit: now I see that you wanted Multiplayer. Scratch most of the Sierra games off the list (but they are still great games).

I would definitely recommend Baldur's Gate 2. It's a very long game with an intricate story line and the character development is amazing.

But then again, if you wanted to try something totally new, try Shadowbane, an online game. The bugs are mostly fixed now. As a group playing together, you would definitely have an advantage because there is a lot of player verse player fighting in the game. Also, it is fun to build your own city and try new characters. Unlike any other online game, building and leveling a character is quick. You can get a character to high-level within a week.

Build another character in Diablo 2? Go to the cow levels and level up and kill all the cows!

Everquest. They will like it.

especially if they like clicking an obscene number of times.

You strike at the rock!
The rock skillfully dodges your blow!
You strike at the rock!
You miss the rock!
You st4b at the rock!
The rock is unharmed!
You slash at the rock!
You do 1 dmg!
*rock rolls over*
*you die*

which is why I don't play Everquest.
;)

now, if you got those women driving games, it would be fun for them, and funny for you. :p

You didnt have to click! You just had to set it on autoattack and then it attacked for you. It was just one push of a button!

EDIT: I was an EQ addict, and I wouldnt suggest it. It is way to hard to jump into that game now. It is to overdevolped. Nobody has a low lever charecter anymore, they are all upperlevels. And if you see any low level charecters, they have high level gear. It is very frusterating to see someone half you level take on something that would stomp you because they have ass kicking gear.
