They just broke into my house

My dog does a pretty good job of scaring unwanted people away:

Get one of those😛

Sorry you got broken into. I hope they find them.

This. Got six of them, not all as big as this one, but when you hear six mutts open their mouths and start making a racket that's going to wake the entire neighborhood, you're probably going to stop trying to jimmy the door and run.

when the neighbor's house got robbed a month ago, cops told us a lot of these guys now carry around police scanners and generally don't give a shit about alarms anymore - they know exactly when the call goes in to the police and exactly how long they have in the house to look for things.

As for why they would steal the watch and nothing else - hell of a lot easier to hide a watch than a laptop etc. as you walk out of a building you just robbed.

Have to agree with the guy that posted the pic of the dog - probably the best deterrent is a large dog barking at you from the other side of the door.

Anyone with an Android phone has a police scanner.

Having a tag before getting an alarm system? Brilliant!

Many people don't have security systems.

I never thought I'd get robbed either so I bought one.

Day I ordered it I was burglarized to the tune of $40,000 in loss (about $8k was a total loss as i pegged my limits in tools and computers so I was only paid out $32k.)

OP two good sites I have used:

www.alarmsystemstore.com

www.cctvcamerapros.com

For a basic IP camera the Mole at Costco or the TrendNet IP422 (they make a wired and wireless/wired model, I have the wireless one). They are about $150-200.

My security system is a DSC 1864 with 20 window/door wireless contacts, a glass break in every room, 2 smoke/fire/heat, 3 PIR's, both landline and GSM phone links, interior and exterior sirens. My home is pretty secure now. The monitoring at AlarmSystemStore.com is cheap and very fast. They call even on low battery or power outages, it's about $105 for landline and $150 if you want GSM monitoring.

Andy Bowman is the owner and a great guy, if you call him with your needs he can custom design the system that's right for you. I went a bit overboard, but since I was just robbed it was more piece of mind. He will only try to sell you what you need which is nice.

OP lives in Belgium. Generous of you to offer the links but neither website, according to their account pages, ships to or services that particular country.

Other folks may find them helpful, however.
