I was just watching TNN and there was a show with ricers and drag racing. The cars were either Toyatas or Hondas. Some guy was bragging about he beat some guy twice in his riced out Celica. They showed the race and you could hear the announcer, "16.78 in the right lane, 16.44 in the left lane". lol, my grandmas 96' Thunderbird can take on all those people. Why do these people even bother to show up at a drag strip???

Well for a Celica 16.44 is fast. That's probably the highlight of this guy's life

Why does anyone with a car running slower than 4.7 drag race? After all, they'd all lose to a top fuel car.

Why do people overclock their 1ghz computers? My 2ghz will still be better than all of them. Stupid computer ricers.

Ummm, not everyone has the money to run a top fuel car. Besides, like it or not, car culture in America has turned towards the import. The aftermarket industry in the US makes BILLIONS a year on people who "soup" up their cars.

And this board seems to abhor "ricers."

boi... check out this. I'll be showing my car in Detroit. I've seen worse than 16.78 in a quarter mile. I think the beat up woody station wagon turned a 19 second quarter mile when I was last at Ubly.

Because it's a rush racing against someone regardless how fast or slow your car is. Also, it's fun and legal.;)
I've seen many family sedans and trucks on the drag strip. People just enjoy racing.

The 1992-1993 model of Celica wasn't bad actually. They had AWD turbo models making 200hp and 200ft-lbs torque. That's pretty decent, I'd say. And weren't the OLDER celicas RWD?

In any case, the NEW celicas suck worse than any of them ever did... and they're fugly. :p

Who cares though, anybody can race if they want. They'll just suck. :)

dude....leave the ricers alone...I'm not one...too old for that...but if they are having fun with there hobby..so be it...

How about us with riced out computers with windows and lights and stuff....it's a hobby!
