No not just the dirty tree hugging socialist liberals... but around the world. People hate Bush, and they hate America.

I was watching NBC news about Rumsfield addressing the audience, defending America's role in Iraq, in some country... Britain I think. Anyway, next thing you know they showed Violent protests of thousands right outside.

Then I hear about how the Japanese demonstrators were protesting their troops being sent to Iraq. I think about how everywhere Bush goes to visit theres a literally a legion of protestors. Like in Britain how tens of thousands of protestors protested Bush when he visited, there was a record amount of protestors in Australia too when Bush came.

I came to the ultimate realization of how hated we are when I was talking to my cousin who came back to visit for a week from Iraq, I asked him how was it like and he said, "It's like sticking your hand in a hornet's nest..." then he related to me how children on street threw rocks at him and yell "death to america", the only english they know. You'd think they appreciate us for getting rid of a horrendous dictactor, but to them, it's like getting a new dictator who doesnt even speak their language.

I'm really tired of being so hated. :frown:

1) every emprie is hated, because its self-serving against the slave people, so take the heat.

2) you supported him, to power and war with iran that killed '000,000's, you fell out with him and fought his conscripts, killing 100's of '000's, you left him in power but imposed crippling sanctions and leaving him to kill more 100's of '000's, then you fought another war killing 10's of '000's and failing them with the infrastructure and generally acting arrogantly and negliently to their interests and sensitivities, and you wonder why you are getting killed off over there? man you guys are stooopid!

Sec. Rumsfeld just spoke in Munich. At any rate, I thought the German protests during the 80s against Pershing II and cruise missile deployment (for the historically-impaired, read: nuke missiles deployed in Germany, on their soil, and aimed at the USSR with intentions of blowing Communist asses off the map) were much more "violent", in this particular respect, than the comparatively token turnout against Rummy.

They hate our government; we hate our government.
Now we just need to get them to realize that the fact that we don't care about them is because they don't affect us, and most of us would be happy if we didn't affect them.
It's not that us, as normal citizens, are arrogant, but that we don't get affected by other nations (save mexico) as much as all of our sh!t affects them, so have no reason to really even notice what they are doing.

Bush's call for war brought about the largest protest in the history of mankind (I'm serious, btw)

and you think people are doing it because they're jealous?

Do you know why they hate us? Because we are no longer the world's lapdog. When they say jump, we no longer start humping their leg.

Frankly, I don't give a crap what the rest of the world thinks about us.

Provide proof that this is the largest protest in mankind's history. Adjust the figures to account for the population of the world so we can accurately see that this is the largest.

What have they done for us lately?

Frankly, I don't care what they have ever done for us. They have a human right to hate us. There will always be people who hate us. Get used to it.

Good news for ya. I couldn't find any reputable sources that gave exact counts but I generally found counts of either 4 or 10 million. I'm assuming this website here has a bias but content asside, take a look at the photos. They're amazing :Q Pics

I am used to it...relax :) Frankly, I hate those who put their economic interests ahead of the 'world's interest', much like Germany, France, and Russia...then want to criticize us for doing what the world fails to do...the world would be chaotic without the Unites States, whether the baggy pants 'Cosmopolitians' want to accept that...

I will give you credit for your attempt. Despite the fact that I believe there may be skewing, I accept your fact that it was the largest protest in history.
However, if 100 million people say that 1 + 1 = 3, that doesn't mean it's true. Keeping that analogy in mind, just because 4-6 million people protest a war doesn't mean that the war was bad or wrong. Remember, just like us here in America, they have a biased media which will skew facts to support whatever they want. Granted, it's difficult getting 4-6 million people to march in the same direction, but it is possible.

This is so right, and it's an incredibly scary thought. Even as little as a year ago, just about anyone I met while travelling throughout the world could differentiate the US government and Americans as a population. I think it's becoming more blurred now... people who look in horror at US actions over the past few years are beginning to wonder if Americans in general are so good, why aren't they doing something about their own government? Most people don't hate the average American yet, but we're in a downward trend that needs to be reversed as soon as possible.

The US cannot afford to make enemies out of the rest of the world. Our next President needs to make serious efforts at international reconciliation, and turn the US once more into a benevolent power, not an unrestrained tyrant.

Until that happens, I have a proposal. Take your next vacation on another continent, and meet the people there. Be polite, talk with them, make them realize that we're not out to start the next great empire or to convert the world to "our" religion. You'll love it, and hopefully we can maintain the distance between the average american traveller and his/her government.

It is my thought that there are some fairly small number of terrorists maybe in the thousands but a whole lot of those that are undicided whether to go the way of terrorism or peacfull change, we need to get to the undicided and get them to think our way or the way of peace.
It is extremely important to us how the rest of the world looks at us and our goverment at this time, we have lost trust in our word to most of the world, if they cannot trust what we say they wont trust what we do no matter what our intentions are because they dont believe our intentions as stated.
It is a real problem and will take great statesmanship with our goverment officials to repair the distrust that is now so prevalent in the world.

you are totally bleeping naive. america only persues its self interest, in the last ten years she has been dominant, so now she is enemy no 1 to the people who feel oppressed by her. thats why the chumps in capitol hill said on sept 11th that terrorism cant necessarily be defeated. think about it.

all you can do is let the volunteers fight them. like in iraq. why should anyone trust america they always break their word, they have been doing it since they killed off the red indians. bin laden is going to crucify you, you see a half competent operation by ba'athists in iraq now, when alqaida gets rooted there you have lost. i dont see how america can win in iraq. if they dont get the iraqies taking control soon, there will be a civil war instigated by alqaida. they had better get their act together and get the iraqis firmly in control. they have screwed it up enough already. they need to fast forward real elections as well to hold the middle ground and not let a power vacuum appear, thats what is most dangerous, if alqaida shifts the politics to violence and the politicians dont control them its all over.

Wow, really? Every country pursues its own self interests. That's it. Some people like to claim that their countries are these wonderful and benevolent countries, but these people live in some sort of fairy tale pixie dust land with beautiful flowers and meadows that doesn't really exist.

Why should anyone trust any country? It's fairly obvious that any country will do whatever it can to gain more power.

well to some extent its not what you do its the way that you do it, ref britian and america in iraq. think the shi'ites would have welcomed us if we had cluster bombed and machine gunned them?

partly its how much you get away with it and how much you push for. america thinks short term. ref the consequesnces in my top comment about empires. anyway its you guys in the firing line, like what the hell do really care?
