They built a fence around my school

Are they dumb? They built a fence only closing in a small area. The fence doesn't even do anything. It doesn't enclose anything. All it does is block people, but they can walk around the fence.

Mmm. Waste of money

Maybe it's to direct where people walk? I just helped build a fence at our school a couple months ago; it's 10 feet tall and fences in a lot of land for our deer herd (wildlife management studies.)

Its 10 feet tall and its not fencing in anything

We can't sympathize with you unless you post pics.
ATOT is not your blog, unless pics are involved.

Maybe it is a traffic screen to minimize road noise or animal migration.

Are you talking about the reddit African school fence?

Can't find reddit link, here is a crap link: http://www.theaggregate.net/2012/01/reddit-raises-70000-for-african-orphanage/

not really sure how a fence is going help prevent this in the future? What kind of fence is it? Is it unclimbable? is there barbed wire/razor wire/broken glass at the top?

if chain link, what prevent someone from either cutting it or driving through it?

why is someone attacking an orphanage/school with a machete in the 1st place?

Maybe it's the new designated texting zone? Like schools used to have designated smoking areas, there will now be designated zones where students may use their cell phones.

It can be to keep people from just crossing that particular area. My school had a few fences like that, didn't actually fence the side area, it just ran along side of it, but the hobos, non-students, no longer had to just walk up access, actually had to walk around. From what I understand, it really did help keep them out, just because now it took extra work to walk the extra 50 ft.

It also prevented parents from clogging another area because now the kids couldn't wait in a certain spot for them to be picked up, and they all ended standing at the end instead, which was farther from the street light.

100 million fences around us. Can we own everything? Including the moon and the sun and the stars?

As I went walking I saw a sign there
And on the sign it said "No Trespassing."
But on the other side it didn't say nothing,
That side was made for you and me.

Kinda like this except I'm in high school

Did you take a fence to their decision?

:hmm:

It is probably a prayer location. That way people can prey and not upset the athiests since they will be behind the fence and not visible during prayers.
