That picture gave me nasty flashbacks to Starship Troopers 2. The guy in Blockbuster told my friend he wouldn't let her rent it, LOL. Little blue frog to the rescue!

hey now, don't forget you're talking about Hollywood.

yeah, allow me to rephrase that.

if id would have been there to tell them, "no, you guys are fvcking it up, we are going to tell you how to make this.", then it would have rocked.

Rofl, I dunno, the fact that the props and costumes have the same quality level as a made-for-sci-fi channel movie, for one....

Every other pic I've seen has the same vibe. The Guns look like Tonka toys, and the sets appear to be empty warehouses renovated with some sheet aluminum and painted styrofoam

looks cheap to me too

well i can think of ONE great movie-based game - Chronicles of Riddick: EfBB

the production values - voice acting, plot and cutscenes [as well as innovation and gameplay] - blew-away the mediocre 'Riddick' movies ;)

Final Fantasy:SW the movie was OK . . . for it's kind
[unique]

edit: what ever happened to the Max Payne movie?

You know what game seems like it could easily be made into a movie? Mafia. I'd pay to see that... if they didn't mess it up.

A lot of games would theoretically make good movies, now that I think about it. But they would all turn out to be crap like the rest... I can't name a good movie based off a game in recent years off the top of my head.

Too bad they're going to completely shart all over it.

Pushed back to OCtoboer, aka the hollywood release graveyard.

But atleast they have been quoted as saying they are going for a "hard R". That's a nice touch ;) But hte Rock is in it :(

So many opposing emopitoins. Who knows what this will end up like. All I know is after seeing AVP< i will never again wait in anticipation for any sci-fi movie (expect for T4 of course ;))

That is a great word. I will start using it in everyday speech.

oh, and this movie was destined to fail. I'm sure it'll be fairly frightening, and an entire 2 hours of "monster pops out suddenly" scare tactics. Its gonna have more bad science than the game, but without the coolness of actual hellbeasts and satan running around.

Not gonna see it. Probably won't even rent it.

Stolen from Shacknews:

In case you were looking for a movie taking place on Mars, with monsters coming from hell..well, look elsewhere.

The monsters have nothing to do with hell, the plot is not taking place on Mars and "space marines" are not well "space marines" as their outfits are more like SWAT team members. The story follows eight marines, teleported into a command centre of a secret base on a remote planet. There, they learn that something strange is happening and soon monsters start to appear. The monsters aren't from hell, but rather people mutated by some nasty super-virus although the monsters look very similar to those in the game. [...] There will be loads of shooting though, especially in the end where a large number of sequences will be shot purely in "first-person" perspective of the leading character (Karl Urban). The chainsaw and Bio Force Gun do appear in the film.
