I can't believe the power and quickness in his left hook and right uppercut! Too bad we don't have any more heavyweights to look forward to anymore.

I saw all his early HBO fights and he was an animal. He had one of the most wicked upper cuts that he could throw in repetition. When his original coach died and he teamed up with Don king that was the beggining of the end.

Also keep in mind that Tyson isn't really the most stable person on our planet. 😉

But you're right... it is a shame that King is such a snake.

Do you think Tyson can knock out Ali in the first round?

My 90 year old grandmother can knock out Ali now.

I think if you got hit in the head as many times as ALI did you would probably be in the same condition 😉

Tyson's biggest strength was the fear of God he put into his opponents. Ali was afraid of no man and would have boxed Tyson silly.

The man was unbelievable. It is such a shame he was an idiot out of the ring and was unable to continue fighting that way. If he had and if Gus hadn't passed away, Tyson would have broken all the records.

Certainly arguable, but IMO, Mike Tyson, in his prime, was the best boxer to ever step into the ring. A shame that he became a train wreck though and tarnished what was a great career early on. His early fights are definitely fun to watch and I always check them out when coming across them while channel surfing.

They've been showing his fights alot lately.

As for tyson vs. ali, both in their primes...who knows...Ali was just as quick on the offense, quicker on defense, and Tyson probably may never have been able to catch Ali. Ali could take punches like noone else as well.

Actually, you could probably count just with two hands how many times Ali took a hard punch in the face during his career. He has parkinsons, which they say is unrelated to his boxing career.

Tyson had the quickness and the most devestating power. I think the match would go to Tyson because of Ali's fighting style (at least the matches I watched). It seems like those days was all about toe to toe boxing and showing who is the bigger man. Tyson has the quickness to move around and pick his punches so he would win either by points or get enough in. The only way I could see Ali win is if the match went past 4-5 rounds and Tyson would get tired and frustrated like the Buster match.

That's bullshit toward the later part of his career he was a punching bag and you can't say getting punched in the head is good...well at least for some people 😉

He was standing in front of his opponents.... throwing and taking hits throughout his entire career which is why I love him. They where exciting matches thats is jammed packed with action.

I'll argue that Ali never faced anyone with Tyson's raw punching power. Ali faced some brutes that hit hard but none that could hit like Mike, nor with Mike's quickness. Only thing I'd question about Mike in his prime, was his chin. The man rarely got tested because he knocked his opponents out before they had a chance to hit him.

Tyson never faced someone who could hit like Foreman in his prime.

I just can't see that. Tyson's body punches were enough to knock most out. "Rope-a-Dope" would've been sheer suicide.

Tyson's biggest strength's were power and speed. His body shot combo's are unequaled. Not to mention his upper cut etc.

Almost all of the Tyson highlight reel is him mowing down cannon fodder. He's overrated, particularly by people who only know him from knockout compilations.

The early title fights where he was finally facing legitimate competition like Spinks and Berbick, you could see the terror in their eyes before the opening bell. They were completely psyched out. The first semi-decent boxer he faced who didn't give a rat's ass about Mike Tyson happened to be Buster Douglas, whose mind was about a million miles away due to the death of his mother, and what happened there...

BTW, Tyson freely admits his career ended that night.
