Why is it that every other commercial on TV now is for some frickin animal charity that shows a bunch of video clips of sad looking dogs and cats.

They found out those ads were really effective when shown to the gullible public.

There's one of them that's so stupid, I get feelings of rage every time I see it.

They're all basically the same formula:

Do you wuv cuddly aminals?

Look at dees pathetic aminals!

So cuddly! They need a mama. Nobody wubs dem.

Don't you wuv dem?

Join nao or you doant wub poor wittle aminals.

People don't care about pathetic African children anymore after 50 years of commercials so they have shifted to something that tugs at just about everybody.

I swear every other commercial on AMC is one of these now. I love animals, I end up changing the channel every time they come on.
 
They play it in slo-mo with sad music and there's usually nothing sad about the image itself. One of them doesn't even say that there's any real problem in the anmals life. Like they show a dog and say it's lonely but present it like a starving kid in Africa. It's shameful.

I do the humane thing and put the animals to sleep. Why should they suffer the human indignation of domestication?
 
I agree with Boomer, I'll give money to them before I donate to people. At least a puppy will live a happy life for 10-15 years.

Donate to some African charity and you enable someone to live long enough to give aids to another dozen people and continue the cycle. That is a place with a people that are on their way to becoming extinct through natural selection and by helping them we are preventing the natural process.
 
Animals are cuter, more beneficial, and just all around more valuable to me than many people.

The commercials work. Last time I saw a SPCA commercial I actually donated $50 because I felt so sad for the kittehs that have no home.

Yeah. After living in Baltimore for ten years I feel the same way.

That being said, I'd HAPPILY support a spay and neuter clinic for our local human population.
 
Honestly I just wish that people would get their pets fixed! I don't expect someone who doesn't have pets to donate anything, but if you have an animal get the darn thing spayed or neutered so that you're not contributing to the problem.

This, unless of course you WANT to have puppies/kittens but ensure they end up in a good home if you don't keep them. What makes me sad is people who don't get their pets fixed and end up killing the babies when they get some. I hear stories like this all too often, it saddens me. 🙁 Get your pets fixed if you don't want them to have babies!

Finding good homes for multiple puppies/kittens is essentially impossible. There's a huge surplus of adoptable animals already out there.

I think my cat may have been tossed out of her old home when she had kittens. I'll never know for sure what happened, but she was still lactating when I found her but judging from her behavior she wasn't nursing kittens. From her behavior she was also clearly a domesticated cat and not feral. Oh well, she's getting fixed next week so no more little kittehs for her.
