It concerns me that these photographs came out the day we started hostilities and that I've never seen them directly attributed to ISIS. Since I've seen some cross pollination of images from different hot spots designed to push a "moral imperative" and I'm suspicious.
 
Americans need to admit two things to themselves.
One: Saddam was our ally in the war on terror. Removing him is what allowed for this to happen.
This is a late realization, but it brings us to one that is not too late, yet.
Two: Assad is our ally in the war on terror. Removing him will give all of Syria to these guys.
The bottom line is we need to find the biggest secular thug dictator wanna-be we can find and back him, all the way against these guys. Democracy doesn't stand a chance against Islamists in the Middle East.

You really seem to like your 'strong men' don't you? Saddam was no ally to anyone and had nothing to do with the American 'war on terror'. He was a 'useful' thug for a few decades and then he wasn't.

Assad is no ally to anyone and is a disgusting little shit who has no problem slaughtering his own people. Again, he was a 'useful' thug until he wasn't.

This 'plan' of relying on thugs as dictators is pretty much what got the middle east to it's present state and you want to continue that?

Victorian Gray is right. Saddam was no ally of ours on almost anyone for that matter. He was doing the same kind of shit we see going on today only it's someone else doing it now and more publicized.

This. I seem to remember reading a bit out the machinery of choice being industrial meat grinders and he seemed to enjoy having them put through feet first so they lived longer.

Unless you are an emo idiot, alliances aren't always because you like the guy. Sometimes they are because the guy is killing other guys you like even less, even if it's for reasons that have nothing to do with yours.
 
Saddam Hussein was directly responsible for killing an estimated upwards of 500 thousand to 1 million of his own people with poison gas. Those stats don't include those he imprisoned in dungeons and sadistically tortured.

Methods of torture used by Hussein's regime included: assault with brass knuckles and wooden bludgeons, electric shocks to the genitalia, scorched metal rods being forced into body orifices, the crushing of toes and removal of toenails, burning off limbs, lowering prisoners into vats of acid, poisoning with thallium, raping women in front of their family members, burning with cigarette butts, the crushing of bones, the amputation of ears limbs and tongues, and the gouging of eyes."

Yet somehow 2014's ISIS + Twitter > 2003's Saddam - WMD. Either you're for it or against it. Either you realize the US and CIA sometimes created, trained, supplied munitions to these leviathans or you do not. Let's continue what hasn't worked for decades, just because.

Perhaps a Martha's Vineyard vacation for ISIS is the answer.

I'm just going to go ahead and say what I'm thinking, tie in the other news in the headlines, because fuck it, I can.

I'm not Jewish but this stuff is largely why I give Israel a pass on what it does to keep itself safe. Our standards of what is right and wrong and unnecessary are largely based on our life of pure leisure, relaxation, & sloth here in the U.S., I'm really in no position to ever understand and judge those who have such monsters not too far from the borders.

The guys under Dubya decided to dunk a few of these guys in water and play loud music for them, and that was deemed a great evil. Seems compared to what they're doing over there, Guantanamo Bay looks like a pleasant holiday resort.

What can I possibly use from my own experience to even try to compare what's happening over there to?

Chemo and radiation therapies kill a lot of healthy cells too. But as long as they are killing cancer, it's a worthwhile tradeoff.
