Saddam doesn't look so bad now, does he?

I seem to remember Saddam rounding up his enemies and running them through industrial equipment.

With Saddam the west never got to see what he was doing, and the technology wasn't really there like it is now (Internet everywhere, camera phones, etc).

ISIS would be crushed if they faced a real opponent like the U.S. Too bad the U.S. has no more stomach for foreign interventions after the mess in Iraq and Afghanistan. These people caught in the middle could sure use the help of that giant invasion force from 2003 right about now. Something like that probably won't ever happen again.

Of course, the rest of the world will do nothing, as usual. "Never again", just words to make everyone feel better. When it comes to committing, things are a bit more difficult.

Without the U.S., the innocent facing terror and extermination across the world are on their own.

I'm going to add another warning here, posters with kids should not make my mistake and click the link.

This is religious fanaticism at it's worst, these aren't people, I don't think I'd even call them animals. These are demons in the flesh and need to be exterminated yesterday. Preferably by white phosphorous or something equally unpleasant.

I'm going to try and forget those pics. I hate feeling like I want to tear someone apart like a chicken destined for soup.

It is a tragedy, and I hope that the UN do something about it. However, where were the UN & the US when the Khmer Rouge was prosecuting/killing Christian & Buddhist minorities in Cambodia (could it be that the US and the West was along side with Pol Pot?) And, then we are still trading with our Chinese partner while ignore the plight of the Tibetan, Uighur, and Falun Gong practitioners.

Hun Sen, an ex Khmer Rouge leader who came to power by coup d'état, and with similar nepotism like North Korea.

And, all 3 of Hun Sen sons are in high political positions.

Global. In Iraq? Many being refugees who've fled elsewhere in through Iraq?

You choose not to pay attention to fabricate an argument.

You using this thread as another excuse to troll and tar Islam as da total evil?

That misrepresenting and degreading meme is quite old, though far too tolerated here.

What is the source for this mythological Yankee altruistic spin?

Without the U.S., the innocent facing terror and extermination across the world are on their own.
Except when other states go it alone..... France is rather prime example of a single player making contemporary intervention in NW Africa. Just doesn't make your news circuits.

Or, your fanatsy also neglects when the USA is a prime actor to enable and even assist in genocide. Guatemala, Nicaruagua, El Salvador, Indonesia, and even to the previously mentioned Cambodia.

Hell, the USA was a prime player in crippling and detering a sufficient UN force in Rwanda.

Iraq is in the state is due to US criminally aggressive warfare into Iraq, followed by a decade of thorough incompetence.

By long standing historical precedent, the USA is most certainly not THE global saviour.

You were there?

Saddam was not a saint, but this genocide in the name of some imaginary deity is the ultimate in a demonstration of the danger of believing in some sky daddy. You can't get much more fucking stupid, unless you try and defend it.

And in 2003 there sure as hell was camera phones, etc.

Where is the UN on this matter?

How clueless do you need to be to think the UN is going to do anything more than wring their hands and ask the USA for money? Honestly you on the left need to decide if you're going to be full time pacifistic non-interventionists or not. If slaughtering innocents wasn't a reason to get involved when Bush invaded and deposed Saddam then it's not a reason now.

Where is the UN on this matter?

The UN is doing airstrikes and dropping supplies. At least, the part of the UN that actually matters. What you should really be asking is, why are these people so massively important all the rest of the people suffering the world not? If the other people are just as important as these people, why aren't we militarily intervening there as well?

"You break it you buy it".

We made ISIS, we are directly responsible for their genocidal crusade against minorities.
