That was my reaction. That chimp was pushing squares before it had clicked in my head "Hey, weren't there numbers there?"

And so what? I can program a microcontroller the size of your pinky nail that can process that data faster than the fastest chimp and you put together. But like the article says, that chimp won't be doing your calculus homework for you.

The work doesn't mean that chimps are 'smarter' than humans, but rather they seem to be better at memorizing a snapshot view of their surroundings
