Our PCs are very similar, except for the video cards - 720 X3/2x2GB RAM ... even the same HDs

i ran a full suite of benchmarks on both GTX280 and with 4870-X2 if you are interested with my Ph II 720 X3 at 2.8 & 3.5 GHz
- the only test we ran that was the same was 3DMark06 (15977 with GTX 280 and 18458 with my 4870-X2) but i ran 15 more benches that are linked to in my sig if you are interested

However, i see you are using XP and i am on Vista64

unfortunately, except for UT3 - they are all synthetic

How do they PLAY games?

at 16x12, i imagine pretty well on the DX9c pathway

I wanted to go to Windows 7, but I don't have the hardware I'd need to do 64 bit.

I am debating to do it with 32bit.

- today was the last day .. you get to use it fully until March 10th

i would definitely upgrade; at least try it on another partition to see what you think of it

have both 32 and 64bit...played with 64bit a bit, but some of my hardware wasn't working.

Yeh, I was going to mention all those synthetic, especially old, results are useless, but I didn't. The 3DMark06 score lines up with other scores of similar systems, so that was good enough to warrant me just simply answering his question.

not really worthless when I was comparing them directly to my previous systems....games have run smoothly even with my 8800GTX and Opteron 165@2.7GHz....my question was really one of seeing if my system was running the way it should or if something seemed to be off.
