Thermaltake Toughpower 650 $109 @ Frys B&M

Definitely better than the 520 corsair, but the question is if it's better than the 620 Corsair which is about $10 more.

Having trouble deciding which to get for my next computer now.. 🙁

I just got a corsair 520 that I ordered a week ago from buy.com, trying to decide if I should keep it for my main rig or replace the ultra I have in my NAS, At night I hear this faint tick tock, tick tock, witch is that ultra power supply waiting for the right moment to blow up six hardrives and a my ol' opty.

Screw it, gonna get this too.....

When you say "better", could you elaborate on that please? Is it quiter? I see it has a bigger fan, but i haven't seen any real comparisons. Is it more efficient?
I'm in the market for a new power supply and i was waiting on a good deal on the corsair 520, but this one seems like a good deal too.

It puts out more power than the 520. For $10 more, it's definitely better IMO to go with this. But for another $10, you can get the 620 Corsair, and then it's more of a toss-up.

I pulled the trigger on this last night. I didn't really need another PSU, but I did badly want the modular'ness.

Went to the Fry's in Palo Alto and picked one on up since today was the last day. Still debating on it and the 620HX though.. 😕

For people who are curious:
I've installed mine last weekend. It's the quietest i've owned so far, quiter than my old zalman. I'd be curious to see how it compares to the Corsairs, but i like mine so far.
Let me tell you though, the modular cables, are not so modular. You end up using almost all of them.
It's a bitch installing power supplies in an Antec P180, and this power supply is no exception. There's little space between the power supply and the fan of the case, so you'd have to put the power supply with minimal cables connected, and then try to plug the cables when the power supply is in place.
Hope this helps someone. Trying to give back something to this community which i've learned a lot from.

Got me one as well. Tired of waiting on a deal for the Corsairs. Thanx for the deal !

Someone posted the 620HX for 124 AR free shipping. Isn't that a deal?

It appears JonnyGuru reviewed the 750W version of this.

They seem quite comparable, but I like Corsair's PSU personally. It is actually manufactured by SeaSonic. Reviews on theEgg are almost flawless.

I ended up returning mine.. the part where the modular cables connect would keep on popping out as I would take the cable out. :Q

I ended up getting the Corsair 520HX from ClubIT.

The reviews on the Thermaltake on newegg are not "almost" flowless, they ARE flawless 🙂 22 people gave them 100%.
This one is 650W versus Corsair's 620W and it's cheaper and without a rebate.
I ended up getting it and I think i'll keep it. Happy so far.
