Thermaltake fan speed controller. Where can I get em??

I purchased the Thermaltake Dragon 478 from newegg, before they offered the one with this fan speed controller. On the thermaltake website, it seems like they sell this fan speed controller all by itself. I have searched everywhere, but I couldn't find it.

Does anyone know where I can buy this speed fan controller?

Or anyone using any other fan speed controller and how good they are??

Thanks.
Slim.

It's called a rheostat, or variable resistor. It can be found at radio shack next to pentiometers.

You just hook the rheostat inline with the negative wire to your fan. Then you adjust the stat (Which is a knob) to change the rpms.

I've put a rheostat on my computer and it's externally controlled. If you have money you can buy a rheobus for like $50, or you can spend less than $5 for one like mine.

If your fan runs at about 6 watts, a 25 ohm, 3-5 watt rheostat would work fine.

I wanted one for my TT Volcano 6Cu+. I waited and waited. Finally I just bought the Volcano 7+ which includes the variable fan switch. It's nice.

Oh ic....

So i have to wait another couple weeks......only if I waited a couple days before ordering the Dragon from Newegg......
sucks.......

but thanks.

If you can't wait or like a project then check out this page and build your own controller.

The Heatsink Guide - temp controller

I have built four of these and they work great provided you take the time to follow directions and get the controller adjusted. As sensor heats up, the fan runs faster to cool it back down. When temps fall, the fan slows back down.

Thanks.

But I'm returning my fan, and swapping it out for the one that comes with the fan controller.
I was going to build one using a rheostat, but those things were like $15-$20 just for the rheostat for the wattage I need.

Thanks anyways.

I wrote Thermaltake customer service (thermaltake@thermaltake.com), and I got a reply after few days!! And they are actually really nice and have great service. I wrote them saying that when I bought the Dragon 478 that there wasn't one that came with a fan controller available, and when and where I could buy just this fan controller.

And they wrote back asking for my address so that they can just send me the controller! I got an email today saying that they will ship the controller today. Now I call that a service. Even writing you a personlized email letting you know when they actually ship out the item. I will buy all my fans from ThermalTake from now on!

There's another one out but I don't think it's made by Thermalright, but you can get it or check it out Here
