OK so I have been playing games on my new xBox 360 and I got worried that my PC may feel a little bit left out, so I bought one of the Thermaltake blue orb processor cooler.
The installation went as good as it could have considering I have 3 children all hounding me, saying that they are just trying to "help Daddy".
After I installed it I ran the machine for a while and started playing around with the clock speeds. Right now I got it up to 3.0ghz but my temps seem a bit high, granted it is a bit warm in my house but the idle temps zre at highest 51c and lowest 48c.
I am curious aboiut how tight do I need to screw the unit onto the mobo, I have it tight right now, well tight enough that there is no wiggle room on it but I still have a few threads that I could make it tighter, does anybody have any experience with this unit?

The specs of the machine in question are in my sig, please, is there anybody out there?

Thanks

It isn't terribly good at cooling, but does look pretty decent. I have a Golden Orb II in my gaming rig and only went for that because it did a hair better than the stock cooler, plus nothing larger would fit (without case mods).

Seems as if this is the limit to cooling without the aid of heatpipes.

yeah, I see what you mean about it being not that great at being a cooler, that sux. my temps have dropped a bit though, I would say that overall I got about a 10 degree drop I was hopeing for more but oh well.
right now, I have mo processor clocked at 3ghz and the temps across all 4 cores is averaging about 46-49c degrees I havent had a chance to do any real testing though, I will do that at some point this week, once I get some more play time.
now that I think about it, I think that after the TIM has a chance to set in and get comfortable I will have a few degrees shaved off making things a bit more cooler.
I never really had a problem with the temps in the first place I just wanted to get rid of the original stock cooler...mission accomplished I guess.

Thanks for the replies fellas

I've had one running on a quad for a while before I swapped it out. For me the temps were almost identical, maybe slightly better from memory, but the difference was that I no longer had a small jet taking off in my case.
