You shouldn't need to change the backplate the MSI comes with, unless you really feel the desire.

I was just wondering the exact same thing. Can you imagine that lever-arm of an HSF bouncing around in a car if your computer were upright? You'd have to lay it on its mobo-side and hope that it didn't shake too much.
