Ok so I got rid of my old A7N8X deluxe 1.04 and replaced with a NF7-S 2.0 about a week ago...i couldn't be happier except for one thing...

I did the little shave trick for the Zalman 7000 to fit it on the NF7, however when installing I noticed that the mounting brackets for the Zalman won't fit on the way they're supposed to. The blue one has to go on the cap side as opposed to the cpu lever side. This is leaving the cpu offset pretty bad. In fact only one edge of the core is touching the copper center of the Zalman. I figured ahh wth I don't have anything else to use right now so I'll just install it this way and hopefully it won't turn out too bad. Well it DOES work...however I can see a definite loss in cooling. I used to run 34C and around 42C under heavy load. My rig's running at 39C and 47C heavy load now :frown:

I've since contemplated buying a Thermalright HSF for the NF7 but after looking at their compatibility chart there's not too many of them that say they fit. I've seen a few people post about using the 947U on the NF7. According to their site it won't fit? I also looked at the 900U and it says that the 1.2 requires customized standoffs but nothing about the 2.0.

I guess what I'm asking is if you use a Thermalright HSF on your NF7 2.0, tell me if it fits and if it needs any kind of mods or whatever. I think the 900U would be my sweet spot, as I don't want to pay 50 bucks for a sink and then 12 for a decent 92mm fan.

Thanks in advance!

What kind of temps do you pull with the 800A? I was looking for a bolt-through style one for added peace of mind...wasn't crazy about hanging such a heavy sink off of the socket. Is it pretty sturdy?

Funny you mention it too this would be going in a Sonata as well :)

I'm running the SLK-947U on my Abit NF7-S V2.0. I haven't had any problems with it. It was a tight fit on my motherboard but just to make sure I grinded down the side a little bit to give the capacitors some space. I hope this helps :) My temps now are around 35C idle and 39C and that's using a mobile Barton overclocked to 2.5gHz

SLK900A with 92mm Panaflo L1A on an NF7-S Rev 2.0

Mobile Barton 2500+ @ 200x11.5 @ 1.74-76V actual.

Usually 42-44C idle, up to 52C full load on a 'warm day' (ie. when i have the heating on a lot)
