Thermalright XP-90 versus Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro

I currently have an XP-90 w/92mm fan on my e6400 (@ 3.0GHz). I also have an Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro (gotten with LCD monitor a while back to push up price for free shipping) and wonder what the real different is and whether I would see any improvement by switching coolers. Comments appreciated!

Why don't you try it, and tell us your idle/load temps under the exact same overclock, but with the ac7 pro installed ?

What is the best/most accurate software to monitor temps for a DS3 (rev 1.0) motherboard under XP Pro?

wow good topic. i asked this one a while back (in cases/cooling) and i was definitely blown away by the freezer 7 pro. the xp-90 is outdated and i even got the freezer 7 pro CHEAPER than the xp90.

Yes, it's definitely outdated.

It does as long as the performance is the same. However, that isn't the case, with these two coolers.

I have the Arctic Cooing Freezer 7 Pro and I can emphatically state that it's better than the stock Intel heatsink/fan. That's about all I can say about it. 😛

I think freezer 7 pro is bit better from reviews I've read when I did my research and I got it for like 25 bucks. Price aside if XP90 is better I would have no problem dish out that extra 10 bucks or so for it. But it's about same cooling wise and the freezer's 90mm fan is so quiet I just cannot hear it working at all. For that you need a pretty expensive panaflow fan or equivalent on the xp90 side. Another thing is weight. It's just very light for the cooling it offers. Considering the many companies like Sunbeam copied this design, it's a testament of how efficient, simple and well thought out its design is. If you want something better than freezer 7 pro, I'd suggest Xp-120 or the big daddy Tuniq tower. But at the 25 price point, it's very hard to pass up.

the xp-90c does very well and even though it only accepts up to a 92mm fan, it is not exactly outdated. If the heatsink fits the new socket types and the heatsink keeps the processor cool, then I think it is not outdated.

outdated...nope sorry!!
The XP 90 is still one of the top heatsink around!
The XP90 copper is right up there!!

XP90 is nowhere near the performance of the higher end coolers today; neither is the AC Freezer.
