Thermalright XP-90 for $24.95 at Jab-Tech

Nobody's posted deets on this lately, but the Jabtech price for XP-90 is down to $24.95 today, despite Pricegrabber saying $29.95. I picked up this, a Panaflo 92L1, and a tube of AS Ceramique for $41 shipped.
 
I'm picking this up, too, for my new AMD Tech Tour Bundle. I'm still trying to decide on a VGA cooler. I'll probably end up ordering the Zalman Cu700 from them at the same time.

Jab tech seems to have a lot of stuff. I'm also trying to decide on the best way to cool by northbridge and they seem to have it all.

Question for the OP - why'd you chooise the Panflo fan? I was going to choose the Nexus fan, just cause I've heard they're good and quiet.

If you swing over to silentpcreview.com, you'll see that MikeC did a side-by-side of the XP-90 using both fans. The Nexus is quieter than the Panaflo, but pushes HALF the air that the Panaflo does. You're just as far ahead getting a Panaflo 80mm L1A, they push about the same and the 80mm will be quieter. Anyway, the Panaflo at 7V is only slightly louder than the Nexus, but does a better job at cooling.
 
Thanks. I went over to SPCR.com and read the review. So to sum up their finding, the XP-90 with the 92mm Panaflow 92L @ 7v pointed downwards seems to be the best, barring the XP-120 with a 120mm fan. Did I understand that corrected?

Also, how to you get a fan at 7V? I usually just find a connector from my PSU and hook up the fans, but I think those are 5v and 12v only, right? Is there an adapter that takes a 12v connection and makes it 5v?

Bought this with the Panaflo fan the last time they had this on sale. Very good vendor and the HSF/Panaflo combe ain't too shabby either!
 
I got one from jab-tech last week also for the same price. Ordered this, some fans and an lcd from them at the same time as I ordered other parts from newegg, zipzoomfly, monarch, and xpc. Jabtech was the first one to confirm and first to arrive (even before zipzoom's free 2day) with ground shipping (i live in ct). Very happy with the product and their service!

1. Yes, you read that right.

2. There are two ways. First is more costly, but safe and reliable: Zalman Fanmate1 or Fanmate2. Set to middle its about 7v. Second is 7volts. They can show you how to mod a molex connector to only power 7v to your fan. Fans run at 12v whether they are connected to a molex or to the motherboard. By altering the molex wiring, you can either cut 7 volts from the current, leaving you with 5, or you can feed 5 volts back to the PSU, leaving you with 7. The latter gives better cooling, but can damage a cheap PSU, so be careful and READ UP A LOT before you try it.

I always use fanmates, personally. Allows you the flexibility to increase voltage if you need to. A 5v or 7v mod is permanent. There's a dude on ebay who has 90+ fanmate1's for sale, something like $6.50 shipped. I got two, and he shipped real fast.

I just did a small variation of this Converter. I use it on my 120mm fans to keep the noise down.

They are very easy to make yourself. Luckily we had all the supplies at work to do it, so I just made a couple for me and a couple for the rest of the guys in the shop.
 
Jab-Tec is really good. They are usually fast and reliable. Some of their prices beats NewEgg on some items.....by alot! The XP-90 is 34.99 right now at the Egg wile 24.99 at Jab. I bought an AC Silencer from Jab-tec recentlly for 25.00 even though every place on the net was charging over 30.00 (over 34 at the Egg). For that, I am a repeat customer.
 
Yeah, I got my xp-90 at jab for under $30 (don't remember exactly) almost 2 months ago. I got the cheapest shipping and it was still here in days. The get 2 thumbs up from me. Great prices, great shipping. The only thing I don';t no about is customer support since I had no problems...
 
Hm...is the XP-120 that much better so as to be nearly double the price? ((I mean...it's cool looking, but what would the tangible temp. differences be?))

I was able to on my MSI K8N Neo2, but it was a chore getting the clips down with things in the way. If it is just MB, then you should be fine.

Also keep in mind, if you have a Socket T P4, you need to buy an adapter.
 
I ordered an XP-90 with a Panaflo L1BX fan from them today. That's a nice price and they've already e-mailed me a DC# even though it's a Sunday!

Me, too. I also picked up a Zalman fanmate to take it down to 7v incase it's too loud at 12, and I also am going to try the 120mm Nexus quiet case fan.
