Judging from Overclockers.com's test results, it appears to edge out the SLK-800U by a slight margin (see the first yellow chart). In the second yellow chart, the SLK-900U edges out the SLK-800U by a slight margin.

So it looks to me like a pretty close race there.

Are any of these worth the cost? What about the MCX4000, it's pretty good too.
www.bestbyte.com has the SLK-947U for $40 plus shipping but not sure how is their service?

swiftech is a little behind thermalright in terms of cooling temps

The problem with the thermalright is cost and the fan mounting clips. I hate the clips. I want to mount the thermaltake mod but cannot without modding it. But other than that it works great. I had the SLK900U. Very easy to mount too.

just got my sp-94 installed. 38 degrees at idle (31 degree system temp) with a 2.6c overclocked to 3147 at default voltage. pretty happy with results considering i am using a 92mm quiet fan (from zalman)

Are you using the resistor mod with the Zalman?

Where you got your sp-94? and how $?

I got my ThermalRight SP-94 from Heatsinkfactory.com for approx: $49.99 not including shipping charges. I just looked on their website and it appears they are on backorder, so you better try to order as soon as possible, as it looks like this is a hot item.

If you goto Thermalright.com, it will list a bunch of resellers that are selling this product; however, heatsinkfactory was the one with the lowest price, that was in stock, and had a good rating on: www.resellerratings.com (very important - check here for all online purchases).

As of stats, I cannot give you any. As of right now I am waiting on my memory to arrive from Kingston and a fan to mount on my heatsink.

Now, to talk about installation. Purchase Artic Silver 3 or Artic Silver Ceramique ( I have artic silver 3). Read reviews on this as many people swear by it. You will have to download the instructions on installing the ThermalRight SP-94 and the Artic Silver from their websites.

Installation was not that hard, the hardest part was making sure I applied the Artic silver correctly. Also note that there are 4 dots on the bottom of the heatsink that represent the length of your processor, so that is the boundries of where to apply your thermal compound (artic silver).

Well, that's about it. Good luck and be sure to post your results! :D

The SP94 will get you a few temperatures lower then the SLK-947U. The 947u performs exactly the same as the slk-900 which is less then the sp-94.

Nonetheless, the SP-94 has better results than the SLK-947U, thus answering the question of this forum, "Thermalright SP-94 vs SLK-947U". Bow. Bow I say. Bow to a heatsink that's greater than u.

Anyone that says otherwise is just jealous. Hehe

This will be the end all this this debate of which heatsink is better, although we haven't already beat this like a dead horse.

Read the review by MadShrimp: MadShrimp SP-94 Review

You will find all the answers you need. SP-94 rules.
