this is an AMD heatsink, look into the slk900 if you want a top notch HS for intel

Yes the SLK900 and they also have an SLK800 for the P4. All of the Thermalright Heatsinks are on sale so you can get a real good price on these as well. *NOTE THIS IS ONLY THE HEATSINK.. NO FAN IS INCLUDED.

I need help. Obviously...

I have my comp in my room and its FREAKIN hot. First I know it's not healthy for my CPU/computer. Second, the only crappy fan I have is blowing hot air into my room like crazy. No matter how high I pump the AC my room stays hot... Well that's an exageration but my computer heats up my room a lot.

Will a fan cool down my CPU/computer at all or will it just help to blow the hot air away? Is there anyway to cool down my comp so it doesn't blow hot air out anymore?

I have an AMD XP1800+ and I'm not OCing.

I need to get several HS/fan combos for some cheap 2000+ systems I am putting together, and a couple I need to replace. The last time I went way too cheap and bought 3 cheap 60mm combos that sounded like a jet engines and a GC69 from SVC. I can not stand the noise, but do not want to spend too much. I do not overclock anymore, so noise it the main concern. I need 5 so I was thinking about the Thermaltake TR2-M1 on sale for $6.99 or the Arctic Cooling Copper Silent TC for $14.99, but the SK-7 is so cheap I could go that way if the fan was not too much. What fan would you get for the SK-7s under those circumstances, or do you think the cheaper combos would cut it? Any other suggestions would also be appriciated.

Thanks

A good CPU HS+Fan can make all the difference. My studio where my machines are cannot be hotter then yours. I came up the other day and it was 108 F! And yet I turned on my 2.8C and it never got over 46 C - 48 C and I use both the Bios temp readout and the Hardcano with a thermal probe on the CPU die. Neither displayed over 48 C with 108 F ambient temps. 🙂

With stock cooling this would shoot up to 60+C and shut down. I use a Zalman 7000ALCu but this HS but it is definetely as good. My case also helps alot. The most important part about good cooling is to expel the hot air out off your HS and out of your case. Even with extreme ambient temps, if the HS+fans+case do this job well, then you will be fine.

Any quiet fan suggestions to go along with this. Maybe a led fan?

The name tells you. 70 mm fan is the best match. TMD fan is the best in my view. You can use 80 mm fan as well though the way heatsink is those kinds of fans are not entirely effective since they blow a lot of air away from the heatsink.

Also this is a heatsink that can be used with Pentium (478) as well but you need a little adjustment, it is about $4 at bestbyte. The way heatsink is at the bottom there is a little stepping where that adjustment can be attached.
Ultimately this heatsink is going down the drain since the new sockets that are coming will not use it, and that is the reason the price is and will go down. I think anything but SLK-800 (U) and 900 is a waste of money now because of the future sockets.

I've been using these Sunon fans on SK-7s and SLK-800s for a while, with good results.

They're not as quiet as a Panaflo, but do move considerably more air than a Panaflo.

just my suggestion.

The same site has the Panaflo 1LA (not sure of naming) quiet fan, 80 mm, for $3.95.

Prices seem real good there, as good or better than SVC on 4 of 5 items I just ordered.

I ended up going with a YS Tech 80x25mm with speed control. They move a lot of air and are reasonably quiet. A little more pricier than the Panaflo but hopefully worth it.

Back in stock! Just bought the AX-7 and the Panaflo. Great deal, Opalfrost!

Great heatsinks. These work great with the fan sucking air away from the heat sink. You can easily duct the HSF air to a handy exhaust port to get double duty from those dB's.
