I was surfing some of my normal sites and came across a deal at Nerd's Byte for those of you who are looking for a good HSF combo.

The SK-6 is $30.99, but they throw in a Delta 60 x 38mm 37 CFM fan for free. Shipping is only $3.99 bringing in the final price @ $34.98.

enjoy!

I'm not trying to thread crap or anything, but since I was actively shopping for a HSF last week I happen to know that this is not a particularly hot deal. In fact even a 30 second bop over to pricewatch shows it canb be had for the same price or a little cheaper (though I'm not sure if it's the same fan, and perhaps the retailer is not as reputable (I simply don't know), etc ...)

p.s but since its related, I might add that I found a number of intriguing deals in Coolerguy's scratch & dent section, to mne the Swiftech MCX370 w/ the quiet pabst fan for $30 was the most attractive (although in the end I did not pursue it).

Sorry about that last post. (The blank one)

MarkM, I see what you mean, but the SK-6 doesn't come with a fan at all. The comparable deal at Hardcore Cooling
is $39.99 plus shipping. Not sure what their shipping costs, but that is definately a higher price. I will compare with a few others and get back to you.

I think the price is A-OK..
just under $35 shipped with the Delta 37CFM "Screamer"

FYI, newegg.com has the same set-up for $33 + $6 Shipping = $39

Although, I prefer a gentle sounding Sunon fan from www.1coolpc.com (around $7)

Where can u get the SK6 bundled with the sunon for a fair price? I have to sleep in the same room with my computer, and I've heard that fan.

The fan should be about $7 by itself, the fan on the heatsink is about $40...

These guys have the sk6 with Delta ($32.99) or a YS-Tech fan ($29.99) plus about $5 for shipping...

Heres the heatsink from 1coolpc . Just fot the heatsink it is 30 bucks plus shipping . The Sunon fan is 7 bucks plus shipping.
I wish the Delta wasn`t so noisy otherwise would pick up one of these up from Nerd`s Byte.

I got this same HS/Fan from newegg for @ $33.00 + shipping and I tell you this fan is very very noisy. You can buy the deal if you want but I am sure you will endup replacing the fan anyway.

Yig42 -

??? Pricewatch shows both Ability and webuildpcs.com have it WITH A FAN for $29 + shipping (supposedly $5). as I said, may not be the same fan, but in the ability circumstance at least it looks like it is a YS Tech 40cfm fan, which I would argue is a better choice (for me, anyway). Search "fans" for "sk6"

anyway, there aren't any places I know of that have it for more than a couple bucks less. Thanks for the deal, I'm just poijnting out there are alternatives!

Thats some good info. The YS Tech is a quieter fan as far as I know. Either way I need a new one and the SK-6 is a good heatsink.
I'll have to check that out too before I get mine.

Thx MarkM

According to this link the YS-Tech fan is louder than the 38cfm Delta screamer---man..can't we get some peace and quiet around here? Anyone try and use like a 80 mm pabst or other quiet fan w/ this heat sink?

There are many variations or the SK1 fan out there. Make sure exactly which fan goes with it.
At this link KDComputers the SK is paired with a Sunon, YStech, and 3 different Deltas. You can even buy the sink by itself. 1coolpc.com (formally 3dfxcool) has the bare sink. Their prices are not at the rock bottom like some of those PW sites, but they have a lifetime warranty on their stuff. I got some fans and a HD cooler there.

And I have been checking myself this last week for a good replacement for the stock retail fan that comes with the XP 1800+ CPU I got in the AMD Giveaway. Since the board that comes with it is not exactly overclockable, I don't need the big guns that cost 40-60 bucks. While hunting prices and shops I found that many of the ratings at resellerratings are better than what they should be. One outfit had a 5.4 but reading the comments revealed somebody is clearly leaving phony evals, especially after somebody posted a horror story on them. So read them comments.

That Ability site mentioned is off my list. So is Powerup, another low price vendor. Now that KD place has credible evals and I saw a good price on the Dragon Orb 3 for $19.50. I was going to buy that even though I saw many others with a similar low price but they all crapped out in the ratings or didn't have any. I don't trust those without any - might be afly-by-night or new name of an old bad vendor.

I also found that in many reviews the Orb 3 performed about the same as the Volcano 6 which cost half as much. I plan to get that, but the place that has it among the cheap places without a bad rating has only 9 evals. I saw this site on here before in another hot deal but forgot which deal so I can't see how it worked out for others. Search didn't work either.

That nerd'sbyte place has great evals right now. Newegg is good too.

Anyone familiar with PC WebShopper?
