Thermalright Shaman - Beasty VGA Cooler

Sweet Zombie Jesus! Just how big of a case do you need to even fit that thing?

For noise, maybe it's worth it. Or cooling the top of the line cards. But at the price, you'd probably be better off just buying the next level up.

Yeah for $80 I think I would just buy the next card up. Although if I had the kind of dough for say a 580 and there is no card higher.....this would be interesting.

I guess this would be for those that had to have the ultimate quiet GPU!...LOL, a 140mm fan on the GPU....outrageous!

Yeah i would rather deal with more noise for more power. For $113 you could go to the next higher price range in card which will almost always give you better performance than a lower end card overclocked to the max, not to mention the higher end card will overclock as well.

I bought this Cooler to use on my 6950 as I pushed the OC up. I bought it for 50$ from ebay so it wasn't that bad.

My total costs were:
260$ for XFX 6950 BNIB from vanilla guerilla (On these forums)
50$ for the Shaman cooler.

I got my card upto 1000/1400 with unlocked shaders and my max temperature is 55 celcius while gaming.

My performance? Between a GTX 580 and a HD 5970 based on the two games I tested more benchmarks will come soon. I think I got a damn good value with my 310$.

Give me a few minutes I will get some pictures up for you guys.

Why did you take the rear heatplate off? Dose it not fit with the new cooler?
To be quite honest, I didn't try.

On a side note the sturdy feeling you get holding this card in it's original cooler is completely gone with the Shaman.

<keanu> whoa </keanu>

That's a monster. I'd probably give in and set up a watercooled system before trying to fit that into a case.

I was considering water cooling but once I added the price up with the pump, reservoir, radiator, gpu block, ram sinks etc. The price was climbing up so fast that I just gave in to the Shaman and I am really happy with it.

Very nice performance for the money spent. Nice job!

Seems silly, IMO. You're not going to get THAT much more performance out of the card for the $130.00 you're spending.

Are you using the thermal tape that came with the cooler?...Toms actually used another cooling device just for the VRM's, that why the total cost was $113

Yes, I used everything that came with the box, the VRM cooler and the thermal paste.

Everything fit nicely onto the card, nothing was forced.
