I'm currently using a Thermaltake Big Typhoon on my socket 939 system, and I'm looking to ugprade to a new 775 system (probably with a DS3L mobo, if it matters). Since the Big Typhoon is 775 compatible, I thought I would save a couple of bucks by reusing it in my new build. My main issue with this cooler is the four mounting screws because it's nearly impossible to get the cooler base in perfect contact with the heatspreader (due to being able to adjust screws as much as you want). I noticed in newer heatsinks that the screws holding down the mounting bracket all have springs, creating balanced forces across the cooler base and therefore keeping it level across the heatspreader. This is highly desirable, since I intend to overclock with my new system.
I was wondering if it's possible to use the Thermalright 775 Bolt-Thru kit in conjunction with the Big Typhoon. Thanks in advance for your replies.
