I just got one of these myself and used the paste that was already on it. I usually do this when paste comes pre-applied. It seems to work fine so far.Originally posted by: JackMDS
I got a new Arctic Cooling Freezer.
Should I use the paste that is already on it, or clean it up and use Arctic Silver Paste.
LOL JEDIYoda, you are a very logical man (as JEDI should be).:thumbsup:Originally posted by: JEDIYoda
Just for future reference....
The thermal paste that is shipped with the heatsinks usually is as good or betther than AS5!!!
Save your money and use the thermal paste that comes with the heatsink!!
After all it makes no sense whatsoever for a company to ship crappy thermal paste with a top tier heatsink....duhhh

However logic is the last thing you expect from people who sell stuff in the USA.
Thanks every one for the responses.🙂
Like it make sense that when one claim that your Wireless is capable to do 300' indoor it would do better than 30'
Now if I can just figure out how to fit this monster HSF onto the Mobo.😕
I was thinking the same thing when I first took the hs/f out of the box. 😉 It looks worse than it is for fitting it on your mobo. Now if I can just figure out how to fit this monster HSF onto the Mobo.😕
Yeah good idea, the last time I used 3rd party HSF was by using Golden orb (a twist and it is on).Originally posted by: Salvador
FYI.. Make sure and do a practice run before you actually install it on your cpu.

The thermal paste that comes preinstalled is the MX-1 paste that you just recommended.Originally posted by: drakore
Yeah usually the thermal paste shipped isn't all that great.
Some good thermal pastes are:
Shin Etsu X23-D 7783
Arctic Cooling MX-1
Arctic Silver 5
If you want the best then Collaboratory Liquid Metal FTW... however in some cases it may fuse your CPU to your HS.
The Shin Etsu stuff should perform about .5 degree less than the liquid metal and 3 degrees better than AS5. It is also non conductive.
