hi guys,
its been said that arctic sliver 5 is the best thermal paste but i somehow feel that its too costly and i believe some of you geniuses must have found another solution for this problem.
i invite all you guys to discuss what kind of thermal paste do u use and how do u clean up the old thermal paste ? i have heard tht iso propyl is a good solution for cleaning old thermal paste .
so what are your suggestions??

I use the Arctic silver 5. many mom and pop shops, even compusa and fry's carry them around at a fair price. All I need is a cutips, 70 % isopropyl alcohol and coffee filters to clean up the left over gunk from the cpu and hsf.

Atleast once every two weeks this gets kicked around.

Search this forum or General Hardware and read... please.

dude.....read the forum!!

AS5 is just another thermal paste. As long as you buy a top quality thermal paste you will do fine!
The thermal paste that comes with most heatsink or CPU`s is more than adequate to do the job!
The difference between good thermal pastes in maybe 1c-3c.
Also please don`t invitew us to discuss this subject.
Its been hashed and rehashed on these forums!!

I invite you to read past posts on this subject in order to catch you up to speed!!

Naah - toothpaste makes your case reek of Spearmint. For a really reeking case, try Vegemite. Dan's Data swears by it... ;) but then he claims that distilled water works too - for a little while...

There are eight or ten goops out there that perform within a degree C or two of each other. I go for ease of application more than anything now and AS-5 loses on that front. If I didn't already have enough AS to last my lifetime (and a syringe of other stuff I'm afraid to use as it might have raw copper in it), I'd get something else. I'd choose the AS Ceramique over the silver now. Several places are selling either type for cheap with way low or free shipping, so it's hard to justify looking elsewhere.
