thermal paste question

So I need some thermal paste to complete my computer. However, I don't have any at the moment. Someone suggested that I just do it without the thermal paste and it should be alright as long as I overclock. I've never done this before, but is this ok? Need some help!

:Q It's true! Dansdata.com did a roundup of various TIMs. Toothpaste actually did pretty well, though its longterm performance was not confirmed. I suggest using a homogenized paste. Cheaper brands are usually a uniform consistency, which is important. That means shy away from Mentadent.

I never thought I'd be giving advice on which type of toothpaste to use for a TIM. :Q 😀
