Which is better? I saw a post in HD for a free thermal gel pad and was wondering if it would be worth getting? All I have now is the little bit of paste that came with my hs. Or would I be better off just getting some paste and putting more on?
I would definately stick with the "paste". Thermal grease seems to do a better job than the pad. Some people will beg to differ. Each machine is different and your results will vary. It is easier to remove thermal grease then the gummy stuff the pad's make.
I use a the pad until I get my CPU all set up and running then I use zinc oxide. It works better, but pads last longer. (as in removing and reinstalling durability)

all you need is a thin coat of paste for a good thermal interface. excess would be a waste & may actualy cause your temps to rise!
use a high quality paste for best results.
