Thermal Paste and memory

Short on time working on my hopefully non-paperweight 280, so I'll be quick:

Using Tx-2 NON-CONDUCTIVE paste
pasted all the ram IC's to my knowledge correctly
sandwiched it back together
had a tiny drip over the edge of 1-2 ICs, wiped up and all that was left was residue under the chip 🙁

So my question is, should I bust out the electronics cleaner/alcohol and douche it, or just move on and not worry?

I wouldn't worry... RAM doesn't get THAT hot under normal circumstances.

......heat should have little to do with this. The paste is already under the chip, although its non-conductive paste. Does the paste getting hotter DO anything aside from making it more liquid?

Bump. Still deciding if its worth taking it apart and sterilizing it and trying again, or running it with MX-2 on the IC legs....Technically I should be fine, no?

Grab a cotton swap and dip it in alcohol and wipe away the excess paste.

On another note, shouldn't you be using thermal epoxy for Ramsinks? Not thermal paste which will probably cause the sinks to fall off when it gets warm...

using Unisink with washers to close the gap, and cotton swabs wont work as I've removed nearly all but a thin amount under the edge of the chip. Does it even matter in the first place? I'd dump some MX-2 on a shitty card and try booting but I'm out of paste 🙁

The residue shouldn't matter. Of course if your really insecure about it you could just re-do it.

actually I just tried mx-2 on a 850xt on some legs and apparently the card does not want to boot. I'm still on the fence. Any solid experience/advice?
