Well - I'm forking out the money for a Zalman blue northbridge, and the Arctic Silver Thermal Adhesive mixture product to replace my IC7 Max3's loud northbridge. Other than arctic's instructions, does anyone have a link to explicit step-by-step instructions on how to do this? I just wanted to get various different thorough reads before doing this for the first time.

Thanks.

I had the IS7 (same NB cooler as your IC7) and the Zalman install was simple. There is a metal clip that holds the heatsink to the NB chip. You can reuse this clip on the Zalman heatsink. You can see it somewhat in this picture. It also shows how close the CNPS-7000A sits on this board. :)

If you haven't already plunked down for the new nb heatsink, pm me.

;) Yeah, I just got the CNPS7700 as well as a Seasonic Tornado and Nexus fans. Can't wait, but I'm sure the northbridge and monster Zalman will be a very tight fit!

I had never seen or heard of reusing the clip. I'll definitely try it first. Are you sure there's enough pressure to hold it down?

Yup, there's enough pressure. You have to tweak it a bit, but the clip has good memory, so you should be able to reattach the factory NB heatsink should you change or decide to sell the board later.
