Actually when I heard the news, I thought the same thing...

I would hope that the federal government doesn't jump to any premature conclusions...

It seems kind of stupid to bring a Qu'ran AND a "how to fly commercial airplane" book, but who knows?

That's what I was thinking too... why would they leave a car for the police to find with obvious links to their nationality. Either they really are very, very stupid or then they're trying to fool us.

Tho another way to look at it,is they want to be found out,or at the least give the middle east credit for it.

How is it "way too obvious"? They found the training manuals in a car. I'm sure they did not think the car would ber searched for weeks or even months. If they were to plant stuff it would be in much more easy to find places.

What was said was that the "gentlemen" were late for their flight in Maine and their luggage didn't make the flight to Boston. Now the luggage turns up....inspection of the contents included a fuel consumption calculator, a video in Arabic on flying a commercial jet, and a copy of the Koran.

This has been mentioned in other threads, but...
If this was done by Arabs that is still no excuse to take it out on people who happen to be Arabs who had nothing to do with this (like, virtually all of them).

Hopefully we won't see any of that sh1t.

True, by giving obvious evidence they can give credit without actually saying "we did it!".

Found too easy....must be plants....these people were smart enought to bypass security and hijack 4 planes at the same time....no way officials have evidence already, they are just trying to appease the American people. I don't buy it. What were they going to do, play the video and read the book after hijacking the plane? They already knew how to fly the planes....this is an obvious plant, maybe not by the US, but by someone.

I highly doubt that there is a book entitled "how to fly commercial airlines". Sounds extremely bogus to me.

atot: your trusted source for news misinforation and rumor.

this is what is being reported:

<< Wednesday's Boston Herald reported that authorities have identified at least five Arab men as suspects in the attacks launched from Logan. An FBI spokeswoman said wouldn't confirm or deny the account.

But Peter Judge, public information officer at the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency, said the FBI seized a vehicle at the airport with "a lot of suspicious materials in it."

The Herald report also said that Arabic-language flight training manuals were found in a car in the airport's parking garage and said two suspects were brothers -- one a trained pilot. At least two other suspects flew to Logan Tuesday from Portland, Maine, the newspaper reported.

Among suspects under scrutiny were brothers with passports from the United Arab Emirates, said Bill Delaney, CNN's Boston bureau chief.

I think there are 3 possibilities:

1) Internal terrorists like Timothy McVeigh
2) Anachists against capitolism
3) Mideast terrorists

1) Internal terrorists like Timothy McVeigh would probably not target a military building like the Pentagon (since he was a former soldier and his beef didn't seem to be with the military but rather more with the government) or commerical buildings like the WTC -- instead those groups would have targeted other Federal buildings like the White House, FBI or CIA.

2) Anachists against capitolism would probably target something like the WTC but they've never shown any propensity for this type of violence against so many innocents. And I've never seen them have a big beef against our military.

3) Mideast terrorists seems the likely candidate. Both targets would be consistent with their past. And their past indicates they have no problem killing thousands of innocents. In addition, the method of suicide bombing is consistent with their past methods of operation.

Lol, how can it be a plant? They located the car because a man called and reported that he had an altercation with 2 arabian men in the that parking garage at that car. The FBI then siezed the car and its contents. So we have an actual siting by an Eye Witness that the car did indeed belong to the two Arabic Men, believed to be the brothers. And bringing a manual, why not, I build lots of computers but I always keep the MB manual handy for reference. They knew they were going to die, going to a better place (so they think), so what do they care what they leave behind. Perhaps they were going to bring the materials along, but decided it was better not to at the last minute in case their bags were searched.

Why is it strange? They were on a suicide mission. Why would they care if anyone later found out they did it? They'd be dead anyway if their plan was successful.

My feeling is that their main concern was getting pass airport security. Who cares about leaving any evidence behind? Besides, most terrorists love to brag about their cowardly crimes.

To me this planned wasn't as sophistocated as a lot of people are trying to make it out to be. The hardest part of the plan was to get someone who knows how to fly a plane. It seems pretty easy to sneak aboard a plane with knives and box cutters. And you can easily look up transcontinental flights to pick the ones you want to hijack. Decide on the day you want to do it, pick some flights, just get a bunch of crazy fanatics and go....

When you're on a suicide mission, and that is what these guys were on, wiping your a$$ and cleaning out your rental car probably isn't on the top of your list.

I was just speculating. Now we have to look at the evidence and then come to a conclusion...

hmm, lemme see a pilot with flight manuals, and he's an arab - yeah lets kill him! I hope this doesn't deteriorate into a wwII japanese concentration camp type of thing. I personally know arabs in this country, and they love this country just as much as you and me. Saw some dumbass redneck with a sign saying something about killing muslims. Honked at him and gave him the finger. Just because of a few bastards we shouldn't condemn billions.

From MSNBC:

"TWO OF THE men, whose passports were traced to the United Arab Emirates, were brothers, one of whom was a trained pilot, a source told the Herald, speaking on condition of anonymity.
At least two other suspects flew to Logan yesterday from Portland, Maine, where authorities believe they had traveled after crossing over from Canada recently.
Once in the air, the hijackers in one plane began killing flight attendants in order to lure a pilot from the cockpit and seize the plane, said one source.
?They started killing stewardesses in the back of the plane as a diversion. The pilot came back to help and that is how they got into the cockpit,? said the source. The source could not specify whether those events took place on the American Airlines flight that left Logan, or the United Airlines flight. Both planes were plunged into the World Trade Center roughly an hour after they departed Boston.
The suspects had no guns, but used shaving kits and other carry-on luggage to smuggle knife-like weapons made up of plastic handles embedded with razor blades, sources familiar with last night?s developments said. That finding is consistent with reports of a flight attendant?s cell-phone call from one of the doomed airliners.
?People were calling from the plane saying they were getting killed, calling 911,? said one source. ?One stewardess called her husband to say goodbye.?
Authorities were led to the rental car by a civilian who got into an altercation with several Arab men as they were parking their car, identified by sources as a Mitsubishi sedan.
The man, whose name was not available last night, called state police from an out-of-state airport after his own flight landed yesterday and he learned planes hijacked from Logan had been involved in attacks that toppled the World Trade Center?s twin towers, crippled the Pentagon and downed another airliner in Pennsylvania.

The car, rented from National Rental Car, was secured yesterday by the FBI and authorities have prepared a search warrant. It was unclear when the warrant would be served.
State police interviewed more than 130 people at the airport yesterday, as America launched what is expected to be the largest criminal investigation in its history.
Investigators suspect the two brothers identified by Bay State investigators were aboard United Airlines Flight 175.
The terror plot included the hijacking and crashing of four airliners, including one into the Pentagon, where the Arlington, Va., fire chief estimated the death toll at up to 800."

Might not be enough proof yet, but it gives alot of info and a direction to dig deeper. This IS a pretty big find. They will be traced to their origin. They also have video from the surveilence camera from the garage showing these men. I also read that one of the names found on the passenger log is on the FBIs hit list for terrorism, which means thay already know alot about him, like ties to bin Lauden possibly. When the proof is found, it will be put up or shut up time.

Astriy:

Dont you think that it a bit beyond coincidence that these men, who happen to have flight manuals, leave thier baggage without waiting for it, fly in from another (Maine) airport hours before thats NOT a connecting flight, and happen to be on a plane that required a trained pilot to pull this attack off. This is not irrivocable proof, but is a great start!

I dont think anyone here said all arabic origin people are guilty......
