Update: Game Informer has the first pic of Big Sister

Update2: removed false info. Actual info (thanks R Nilla)

The information surfaced over at the GameSpot Forums, and was backed up by blurry pictures of the article. The posters there and at NeoGAF also a provided wealth of other not-yet-verified details, apparently coming from the same source as the pictures.

Those unconfirmed details are listed below. Shacknews can confirm the validity of the above information, but can't yet say the same for any of the following points:

* The game is set 10 years after the first BioShock.
* There will be a multiplayer mode, but no details were given.
* The Big Sister is a grown-up Little Sister, and she's hunting you.
* Some levels take place on the sea floor outside of Rapture.
* The Big Sister will periodically pop up after you kill enough Big Daddies. Her arrival is apparently signaled by a Little Sister singing a song.
* The Big Sister is described as fast and "the hardest thing in the game." She'll utilize telekinesis to throw objects at you or use them as shields.
* Your drill overheats, and cannot be used constantly.
* As a Big Daddy, you'll be able to do that nifty shoulder bash move.
* Upgrade trees are now more diverse.
* The Incinerate plasmid allows you to throw a fireball or shoot a stream of fire, depending on upgrades.
* Using Incinerate on a Cyclone Trap will result in a flaming trap.
* You can now heal damaged turrets and bots.
* The game will reveal how Adam is recovered from Little Sisters.

Hope it's close to as good as the 1st game, if so I'll have to give it a whirl. Can't see the site from work though :-/

It's just some teaser information (newspaper clipping from 1967, picture of a Big Daddy doll and a note) about a kidnapping of a 7-year old girl off the coast of Ireland.

Pretty cool! My co-host, Elizabeth, worked really hard on this site for a while. She is responsible for the design, layout and production of it. 🙂

that big daddy doll looks like it could be right at home in Little Big Planet!

I loved the first one on PC

anyone have a timeframe for the game? i really liked the first one.

Supposed to be by Christmas this year last I heard. I wouldn't be surprised to see it slip but I imagine we'll start seeing more at GDC at the end of this month or E3 at the start of June.

The site has been update with two more sets of clues including the creepy, "Whatever it is....it's taking our daughters."

yeah, cool stuff, actually GOOD use of flash is so rare

Cool teaser site. Definitely looking forward to the second installment of this game. The first one was one of the few games to live up to the hype.

The new info looks pretty cool. Smaller, faster big daddies? Interesting. I loved the story in the first one, especially how "would you kindly" tied it together.

Which reminds me to finish BioShock. I bought it on the week of release but have put only 3-4 hours into it.

Should that be "big mama" instead?

I would have thought so as well, but the GI cover says "Big Sister". <shrug>

Or maybe to make it better "Big Baby's Mama"

Considering there was a Big Daddy called "Rosie" in the first game maybe that qualifies as Big Mama...

WTF, how did bioshock leave room for a sequel?
Game was good as it was, make something new instead. The game didn't have an open ended ending, unless you're counting the evil ending where the world should have died in nuclear fire.

See, it takes place on this island. And there's a plane crash....

Update2: Details on the game from the GI article have leaked

What are being reported as the first details BioShock 2: Sea of Dreams have emerged via the new issue of US mag Game Informer.

UPDATE: A 2K spokesperson has told CVG that the publisher "can't confirm any content details at this stage."

According to subscriber holders on 2K's forums the second game will feature two-player co-op, underwater exploration levels and controversially, no Big Daddies what-so-ever.

Apparently the game (which has now been confirmed for a PS3 release) starts of with you, private investigator Jack Abbott, as your daughter's snatched from your New York City beach house by the now infamous Big Sister - the main horror of the game.

After a boat chase and deadly encounter with the mysterious assailant you're knocked out and end up back in the underwater city of Rapture.

Seven years have gone by since the events of the first game and Rapture's even more flooded and ruined than before - some levels will even require you to don a diving suit to progress.

But this time you're not the only one who stumbles upon Rapture... according to the details, at some point in the game a Soviet submarine stumbles upon the city and you're left as the sole defence against the dirty Ruskies from acquiring Adam and using it against the Americans in the Cold War.

Soviet baddies are said to be far smarter than the dopey Splicers, using cover and flanking intelligently as you'd expect.

In the search for your missing daughter you'll progress through unexplored levels of the city including a Zoo complete with freakish, spliced animals. A spliced Rhino and an "epic underwater boss fight" with a gigantic squid are noted.

New enemies include spliced dogs and bipedal robots which can be hacked in the same way as the machines from the first game, claim 2K forum boys.

Two new plasmids have also been detailed; one slows down time for a few seconds, the other, more interesting mutation is Telepathy, which gives you the ability to eavesdrop on the thoughts of NPCs and gain information, such as the combination for a keypad.

Co-op and the cutting of Big Daddies might raise a few eyebrows, but we're confident this'll turn out brilliant. We'll verify the info when a copy of Game Informer turns up...
