There's now a Budweiser Ale?

JEDI

Lifer
regular Bud is a lager, which i think taste horrible.

How does Bud ale taste?

edit:
lager 😱

It's malty and sweet, very little hops personality. It's 10 times better than ordinary Bud, but it's still a very poor excuse for an ale.

Agreed, thats what I thought too. But I've dabbled in homebrewing for about 10 years now and have become a bit of a beer snob.

I wish they'd just stay out of the craft market. I understand that it's good business for them to do so, but I'd rather see them keep the tasteless shit beers to themselves and let the micro breweries do their thing.

In my opinion its miles better than Bud or Bud light, but miles away from anything decent.
I'm glad it exists in case I ever find myself trapped in those "Bud-Miller-Coors" bars.
At least my piss beer will have less piss than it would have otherwise.

It had more hops than I expected, so it caught me off guard a bit...better than I thought it'd be, but nothing amazing at all.

Is this new Bud a product of the Belgians since they bought out the company, or was this beer already planned before the purchase?

Stella Firm buys Budweiser Brewer

The US brewer Anheuser-Busch has agreed to be taken over by Belgium-based InBev, in a move that will create the world's largest beer maker.

The $52bn (£26bn) takeover bid by InBev, which makes Stella Artois beer, was accepted by Anheuser's board.

The combined company will now be called Anheuser-Busch InBev.

It's got a nice pop of Cascade hops to it. It's a smooth drinking ale that as mentioned - is along the lines of a Kilians/Red ale.

It's a great option for a "macro" brew that is widely available.

I wouldn't listen to the beer snobs. I give Bud some credit for trying something different. Bud also put out Shock Top which is a Belgian white ale that is probably one of the best out there for the price. They are trying to broaden their portfolio of beers, and it's working. I just wish they would market their Bare Knuckle Stout a little more. For a "macro" stout that's not too bad either.

I like it. Its reminds me of Killians with a little extra hop but its not really an "ale".

How is it not an ale?

Ale or lager has everything to do with how it is brewed. Ales are generally easier to brew as the temperature is higher for brewing.

Umm, no. The temperature is higher for fermenting ales, the brewing temps are the same.

i don't think the SHs have voted on it yet, so no. even if they have, a brand new product takes a bit longer to get out than the month that Bud Ale took after the board accepted the offer.

edit: shareholder approval was 11/12, justice dept approval was 11/14. so, no, this isn't an inbev product

They made a very basic beer. Hooray for making something that everyone should be able to at least swallow without choking, once again. Big beer companies are pussies. They only put out what the masses will enjoy. They want their beer to be most popular because its most appealing to all, not most appealing to beer drinkers that know what they are doing. The American Ale just sets a newly reformed basic standard for Ales. Everyone is going to base how other Ales taste off of theirs, which blows the concept of individual taste out of everyone's intelligence.

Exactly my thoughts.

I like Bud's American Ale, far and away a better drink than anything else in the Bud family, and I cannot stand AB's Miller family either, so basically my favorite AB product. 🙂 I still drink the light lagers to get drunk for cheap, but that's different than actually drinking slow to enjoy flavor.

And yes, Shock Top is a good Belgian White Ale that is outstanding compared to Blue Moon.

miller isn't part of the AB family. miller is owned by SAB Miller. SAB is south african breweries. they've entered into an alliance with MolsonCoors.
