There's nothing like "Amazing Grace" on the bagpipes...

I hate to rain on your parade, but those pipes sound pretty flat. They might be pitched lower to accomodate the range of the brass band, but the blowing (and tuning) could be better. The harmonies are too overpowering - personally I think AG sounds best without them at all. I also don't care for the arrangement of the tune - I think it ought to be played the way it is sung (check your local hymnal), same goes for tempo (pipers often play AG too slow. No need to milk it).

What year was this recording made?

I'm not sure of the year, but this performance was by the Air Force Reserve Band.

They are gonning to come bomb his place down now.

yeah, i didn't quite like that version. i think it's much better when all by itself and slow and semi-long.

Everytime I hear Amazing Grace on bagpipes it puts tears in my eyes and shivers down my spine.

I can't stand it.

i hear you man...

You know, bagpipes were first invented as a scare tactic for war

But thumbsup to this rendition. Once the other instruments chime in, its really powerful to me.

I personally think the Pipe Band of the Royal Tank Regiment does Amazing Grace on bagpipes better. I remember hearing it soon after 9/11 and couldn't keep my eyes dry.

..sounds good to me. With plenty of bass from the drum. My sub woofer was vibrating the floor.

Pipe band bass drums are never that loud, it's probably the mil. band's drum. Pipe band basses are meant to sound like a low, deep but subtle rumble.
