There's nothing I can do and it sucks.

I've been living in this apartment building in Brooklyn for about 2 years now. It's in a good neighborhood and everyone is pretty much friendly. However, recently there was a mass exodus from the building (about 6 families moved out). Ok, sounds fine. But recently (about 2 weeks ago) I noticed a new motorcycle outside the building. It's on of those Harley looking things with high handle bars. Upon further inspection, I find swastika artwork on at least 4 different places on the motorcycle with some German sayings. The dude now lives in my building. *sigh* Any suggestions? No, nothing involving vandalism. I figure the only thing I could do is talk to my landlord. wtf, keep the Nazis outts my building!

move out?
if he isnt doing anything to offend you or causing you harm, i don't think you can do anything about it

Nice section of BKLYN? didnt know there were any left. 😉 I gre up in Bensonhurst in the 60's and 70's!

As far as the new guys go... well, as distasteful as it may be... if they aren't doing anything illegal or bothering anyone. Nothing you can do. If they arent bothering anyone.. what is the problem besides you dont like it?

Is that why everyone else moved out?

Nah, it was unrelated. ANd I'm all for people's personal freedom and whatnot, but I don't want anti-semetic motorcycles littering the goddamn streets. Oh well.

Is it actually a swastika, or is it an iron cross, which doesn't have the same connotations at all?

swastika
Iron cross

They were both used as logos in Germany, but only one has a nazi/racist connotation.

I dont want the hispanic music blarring from the new rental neighbors next door... or the constant coming and going of endless/countless strangers all hours of the day and night. But, unfortunately... it seems that ppl have a right to express themselves even if everyone else finds it distasteful or annoying.

🙂

I just think it makes the building/area unattractive. It's a peaceful area and it's mostlya bummer. Guess I'll have to learn to deal with it. Oh, it's in Bay Ridge.

swastika
Iron cross

They were both used as logos in Germany, but only one has a nazi/racist connotation.

I was wondering also.
and what are the "german sayings"

"Essen mein schisse" is scrawled all over.

It's a swastika. Kinda funny that you bring up the Iron Cross cause the rear view mirrors are iron crosses, lol.

I'll write down the phrase(s) when I get home and post them here.

For the longest time... i did not want to bring VeggieFrog there and say... this is where I grew up. But we had to go there for a dinner... and it was really really bad. Especially 86th street.
Even the street where I grew up... i could never image it would get like it is. just not the same. 🙁

86th and what? I'm not originally from NY, so when I was looking for apartments I was just told to stay away from Bed-Sty and Brownsville. I'm at *edit* 83rd and 7th ave, btw.
