Here's my reasoning - forget the diplomacy, the protests, the constant media barrage. If you really want to know what's going to happen - FOLLOW THE MONEY.

Consider:

Dow Jones popped 250+ points yesterday - this wasn't Joe Average buying stocks; this was the Smart Money. Stocks don't move like this on the eve of war. UNLESS there isn't gonna be a war.

Baghdad stock market is UP 150% in the last few months (source: briefing.com) - why would weathy Iraqis invest in a country that's about to become devastated? Answer: Iraq is not going to be devastated. There isn't going to be a war.

Bush's plan has always been to force Saddam out and to avoid war. To make Saddam's inner circle realize they are going to die unless they oust Hussein. So what do you think they will do? Answer - they will force Hussein OUT.

Tonight - CBS news reports that Saddam is allowing families of his top advisors to leave the country... I figure Saddam has his bags packed and will be lounging in some Russian hot tub by next week in EXILE.

Stay tuned.

I think there's going to be a war no matter what... They will do it just to help the US economy (real GDP always rises during war times)....

Interesting analysis. Alot of arab news sites have reported that Saddam is going to leave Iraq and head to Yemen.

Time will tell if that is true.

The Iraq stock market has been going up since this thing started. The investers are looking forward to a more free market in the future. Saddam out of power means sanctions will be lifted. This will be good for the entire population of Iraq.

There is a chance of a coup, but if it has not happened by now, I doubt it will happen.

If you looked to see what happened for the rebound, your would find it due to bargain hunting by the sharkies (AKA fund managers). The market went up as a result. You can expect it to fluctuate in it's usual unpredictable manner. This is normal.

I would like nothing more than to see Saddam leave. Sadly, I don't believe his ego will allow him to do so. Also, I don't believe anybody can get close enough to him to take him out. You don't understand the security he is surrounded by.

There's NOT gonna be a WAR

wish I could believe you...the truth is we dont know...GW doesnt know...Saddam sure as heck doesnt know...there are alot of reports floating around about when the war is "scheduled" to start...and what could stop it...but just remember we have about a quarter MILLION troops sittin over there ready and waiting...and if a couple of Iraqi's get brave and try something it could set this thing off at any second....
and I have also found treasures in my nostrils...none golden though...I did find a nice mountain bike in there last week though

re: hayabusarider

I am in agreement. Don't try to analyze anything by a sudden fluctuation in the NYSE.

Actually, I could see where he left and didn't tell anyone. We would invade his bunker and find him gone. Be his idea of a little practical joke.

Go ahead. And no, I am not anti-American, I am anti-Bush and anti-War-On-Iraq. Your attitude is what is killing democratic discussion in this country.

Is it possible that being anti-Bush would lead you to disagree with anything he says or does?

BTW, your post sounds a bit whiney. That isn't unusual for a liberal, though.
